THE FINAL MEETING OF THE COORDINATING COUNCIL AS PART OF THE PROGRAM "PROTECTION OF CHILDREN IN THE MIGRATION PROCESSES IN KAZAKHSTAN"

On June 1st, 2021 the final meeting of the Coordinating Council was held as part of the program "Protection of children in the migration processes in Kazakhstan" with the support of the European Union, UNICEF in Kazakhstan and the Commissioner for Human Rights in Kazakhstan.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY!

On this special day, the staff of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" held a lecture on "No to Domestic Violence" for students of the Industrial and Technical College. The students learned about the types of violence, their rights and the help which can be obtained by contacting governmental and nongovernmental organizations. They showed great interest to the topic.

We would like to note that the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" has been helping children for 20 years. During this time, children have received legal, psychological and humanitarian assistance from the organization.

THE U.S. CONSUL GENERAL’S VISIT

On May 27, 2021 representatives of the U.S. Consulate General, represented by Consul General Eric Meyer and Stephanie Straface, visited the office of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim". Organization staff had an opportunity to share results of anti-trafficking activities. In addition, they discussed the current situation with human trafficking in Kazakhstan. The Consul General stressed the importance of the work done by the organization in counteracting trafficking, and congratulated the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" on its 20th anniversary.

THE 40TH MEETING OF THE INTERAGENCY COMMISSION ON COMBATING ILLEGAL EXPORT, IMPORT AND TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS

On May 26, 2021 staff members of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" took part in the 40th meeting of the Interagency Commission on Combating Illegal Export, Import and trafficking in persons.

AN AWARENESS-RAISING CAMPAIGN WAS CONDUCTED ON THE KAZAKHSTAN-UZBEKISTAN BORDER AT THE ZHIBEK ZHOLY CHECKPOINT

On May 25, 2021 as part of the USAID-funded and Winrock International-implemented the “Safe Migration in Central Asia” project, an awareness-raising campaign was conducted on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border, at the Zhibek Zholy checkpoint.

Information materials on safe migration and human trafficking in Kazakh, Russian, Uzbek, Tajik and Kyrgyz languages were distributed among local residents and labor migrants together with an employee of the Saryagash District Police Department of the Turkestan Region.

TRAINING ON BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF STATE AGENCY REPRESENTATIVES TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING

On May 21, 2021 within the USAID-funded and Winrock International-implemented “Safe Migration in Central Asia” project, a training on "Building the Capacity of State Agency Representatives to Provide Services to Victims of Human Trafficking" was conducted.

WE ARE 20 YEARS OLD!

Dear friends!

Today on May 18, 2021 we would like to share with you a special joy: our organization the Legal Center for Women's Initiatives "Sana Sezim" is celebrating 20 years of anniversary!

Exactly 20 years ago in 2001 our organization was registered and started its activity. From the first days of its activity, our aim has been to promote women's and children's rights, and to protect them against domestic violence and human trafficking.

TRAINING ON WORK OF NGOS WITH PRIVATE SECTOR ENTERPRISES

On May 12, 2021 staff members of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" took part in the training "Work of NGOs with Private Sector Enterprises" organized by the Winrock International for NGO partners under the USAID-funded "Safe Migration in Central Asia" project.

THREE-MONTH LONG “SMART NAVIGATOR” TRAINING HAS SUCCESSFULLY FINISHED

Yay! On April 28, 2021 our three-month long “Smart Navigator” training for 30 students as part of the “Safe Migration in Central Asia” project, funded by the USAID and implemented by the Winrock International, has successfully finished. Students from the Industrial Technical College gained valuable knowledge about human trafficking issues, learned how to recognize traffickers, as well as how to migrate safely and make the right decision when looking for work abroad.

TODAY WE SAW JOYFUL SMILES ON THE FACES OF THREE CHILDREN OF A MIGRANT FROM THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN!

On April 22,2021 as part of the project "Protection of children in migration processes in Shymkent and Turkestan region" with the support of the UNICEF Children's Fund, the European Union and the Commissioner for Human Rights in Kazakhstan, three pre-school children received humanitarian aid in the form of clothes. Earlier the children received backpacks with stationery and sanitary kits as part of this project. In addition to humanitarian aid, staff members of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" help the family with the documentation of children.
