WE CONTINUE TO SHARE SUCCESSFUL STORIES

Within the project: "Protection of children in migration processes in the city of Shymkent and Turkestan region" with the financial support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the European Union three more children are returning to their homeland in Uzbekistan. This is the result of the joint work of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim", the Center for Adaptation of Minors (CAC) of Shymkent city. Shymkent, the tutelage and guardianship department of the Kazygurt district of Turkestan province, NGO partners in the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Almaty. We will share with two cases.

THE STORY OF A GIRL WHO SUFFERED FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Today we want to share with you the first part of the story of a girl who suffered from human trafficking.

WORKING MEETING IN THE CONSULATES GENERAL OF THE REPUBLICS OF TAJIKISTAN AND UZBEKISTAN IN ALMATY

Within the framework of the joint project with the UNHCR, the workers of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" visited the Consulates General of the Republics of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in Almaty. During the meeting, representatives of the organization shared with the results of the "Provision of legal aid to stateless persons in Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl regions and Shymkent city" project, about the Republican identification campaign in Kazakhstan within the Memorandum between the MIA of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan and the partners of the UNHCR.

THERE IS ONE LESS UNDOCUMENTED PERSON IN KAZAKHSTAN!

With the efforts of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" and the Migration Service of the Al-Farabi District Police Department, a man received his birth certificate and identity card for the first time. Now, as a full citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan, he is able to get free medical care and receive social benefits. We thank the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which has been assisting in documenting the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" since 2016.

TRAINING "SMART NAVIGATOR"

The workers of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" have organized the second session of the training "Smart Navigator" with the students of the Industrial and Technical College. Due to the safety concerns, 2 trainings were held simultaneously with the participants of the "Smart Navigator" club on the topics related to human trafficking, types and elements of human trafficking.

SUCCESS STORY

A 29-year-old girl received her first document in her life today – her birth certificate. All these years the girl had no documents and no citizenship, thus not being able to get free medical care, compulsory school education and get a legal job. Now the lawyers of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" will help the girl with obtaining citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This assistance was possible with the support of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which has been assisting with the documentation of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" since 2016.

THE FIRST SESSION OF THE THREE-MONTH LONG "SMART NAVIGATOR" PROGRAM

The workers of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" has conducted the first session of the three-month long "Smart Navigator" program in offline format, with keeping all the necessary precautions and preventive measures against coronavirus infection. The program will train 30 students from the Industrial and Technical College about emotion management, communication skills and learn about human trafficking, including safety measures when migrating. The program will provide a safe space for students to discuss their emotions, goals and issues in migration.

The Smart Navigator pilot program was launched as part of the “Safe Migration in Central Asia” project, which is funded by the USAID and implemented by the Winrock International.

A MOBILE VISIT OF LAWYERS TO THE "ZHIBEK ZHOLY" CHECKPOINT

Despite the quarantine measures imposed in connection with the pandemic, the Zhibek Zholy checkpoint on the state border of Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan remains open for certain categories of citizens, such as those visiting close relatives or those sent for medical treatment, as well as migrant workers returning to their home country.

MEETING OF THE COORDINATION COUNCIL IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE PROJECT THE "PROTECTION OF CHILDREN IN MIGRATION PROCESSES IN SHYMKENT AND TURKESTAN REGION"

On January 28, 2021,a regular meeting of the Coordination Council was held at the office of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" in the framework of the project the "Protection of children in migration processes in Shymkent and Turkestan region" with the support of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the European Union. The meeting was attended by representatives of state bodies of city and oblast levels interested and involved in working with children in migration processes, such as the Department of Migration Service of the PD, Department of guardianship and trusteeship of Education Department, Health Department, KSU "Center for adaptation of minors", KSU "Samgau Senim", etc.
