INFORMATION CAMPAIGN ABOUT THE PROBLEM ON TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS AT THE INDUSTRIAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL COLLEGE

On September 17, 2023as part of the project "Together Against Trafficking in Persons through Capacity Building of CSOs!", an information campaign on trafficking in persons was held at the Industrial and Technological College.

During the event, high-profile cases of trafficking in persons in Kazakhstan were discussed, as well as the assistance provided to victims by the NGO "Sana Sezim". Measures to prevent trafficking in persons when traveling abroad, looking for a job and on the Internet were discussed.

SEMINAR "INDIVIDUAL APPEALS TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT AS A REMEDY FOR HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS"

On September 5, 2023,the Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan hosted a seminar on "Individual appeals to the Constitutional Court as a remedy for human rights violations", organized jointly with the European Union and the Council of Europe. This event was made possible within the framework of the project "HELP in Central Asia" and brought together civil society, representatives of NGOs, lawyers and academia to explain the rules of individual appeals to the Constitutional Court.

III REGIONAL CIVIL FORUM "CHALLENGES OF TIME AND THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN CHANGE. YOUTH POLICY IN COUNTRY AND INTERNATIONAL DIMENSIONS"

On August 18, 2023, the III Regional Civil Forum "Challenges of time and the role of youth in change. Youth policy in country and international dimensions". The event brought together leading experts, public figures and youth leaders, as well as high-ranking government and public figures representing a variety of spheres of public life.

INFORMATION CAMPAIGN IN TURKESTAN

On World Anti-Trafficking Day, which is celebrated annually on July 30, a series of events were held to raise awareness of human trafficking in Turkestan. 

Large-scale actions were organized in several key locations in the city, including Turkestan International Airport, Turkestan Railway Station, “Keruen Saray” multifunctional tourist center and “Kuralai Ana” Trading House.

These events helped to draw the attention of the general public to the problem of trafficking in persons and its scale. They became possible to the cooperation between the NGO "Sana Sezim" and the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Department of Internal Affairs of Turkistan city.

PREVENTION OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AMONG HEALTH CARE PERSONNEL

In anticipation of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, which is celebrated annually on July 30, an event was held to raise awareness of trafficking in children among the staff of the Municipal Perinatal Center in Shymkent.

Maternity center staff play a critical role in identifying and preventing child trafficking cases, as they are on the front line of interaction with parents and newborns. Their awareness and ability to recognize suspicious situations can save many lives.

INFORMATION CAMPAIGN AT THE AIRPORT AND RAILWAY STATION IN SHYMKENT

On the eve of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, which is celebrated annually on July 30, the staff of the NGO "Sana Sezim" together with the staff of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Department of Internal Affairs of Shymkent city, KSU "Center for Special Social Services #3" of Shymkent city, Linear Police Department at the airport of Shymkent city and Linear Department of Internal Affairs at Shymkent station held a joint campaign at the airport and railway station of Shymkent city.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON "STRENGTHENING NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS COMBATING TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS"

In anticipation of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, an international conference on "Strengthening National and International Partnerships Combating Trafficking in Persons" was organized on 27-28 July 2023. This forum was organized by the Law Enforcement Academy, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the USAID Project "Safe Migration in Central Asia", implemented by Winrock International, and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Department of State.

MEETING WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF GREAT BRITAIN

On July 8, 2023as part of her trip to Shymkent Ambassador Kathy Leach met with Shakhnoza Khassanova, the director of the Legal centre of women initiatives "Sana Sezim".

The sides discussed the lasting cooperation relations with the British Embassy, human rights situation in the region, specifics of work, and current projects.
