A MONITORING VISIT BY UNICEF REPRESENTATIVES AS PART OF THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE PROJECT

On March 17, 2023, monitoring visit to Shymkent city by representatives of UNICEF was held during the implementation of the project "Improving Russian language skills among vulnerable groups of children to integrate and improve learning outcomes, especially children in migration processes and children who have returned from conflict zones".

WEBINAR "COMMUNICATION FOR DEVELOPMENT IN THE FIELD OF SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL CHANGE"

The three-day webinar "Introduction to Communication for Development (C4D) and Communication for Social and Behavioral Change (SBC)" organized by Winrock International as part of the USAID Safe Migration in Central Asia project came to an end.

TRAINING "WOMEN'S RIGHTS. WOMEN'S PARTICIPATION IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS"

On March 3, 2023 in the office of NGO "Sana Sezim" in the city of Shymkent two trainings on "Women's Rights. Participation of Women in the Affairs of the State" for representatives of the Commission on Women's Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the Akim of Shymkent city, Departments of Education and Health, civil society and youth.
The purpose of the trainings was to raise awareness of women's rights, support and promote women's participation in public affairs.

FIELD MEETINGS WITH THE POPULATION OF 5 DISTRICTS OF TURKESTAN REGION ON DOCUMENTATION

From February 20 to 24, 2023, lawyers of NGO "Sana Sezim" and representatives of the Migration Department of the Police Department of Turkestan oblast conducted field meetings with the population of Maktaaral, Shardara, Saryagash, Keles and Sairam districts of Turkestan oblast to provide mobile legal aid to undocumented people.

Purpose:informing and identifying stateless persons, as well as undocumented persons among vulnerable segments of the population for further provision of free legal assistance in documenting.

MOBILE RECEPTION OF CITIZENS TOGETHER WITH DIPLOMATS OF CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN IN ALMATY

In the city of Shymkent, diplomats of the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Almaty and lawyers of the NGO "Sana Sezim" held a mobile reception of citizens.

During the reception, people who have problems with documents had the opportunity to get answers to their questions from diplomats and lawyers. Also during the event, new aspects of cooperation between the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Almaty and NGO "Sana Sezim" were discussed.

INTERDEPARTMENTAL OPERATIONAL MEETING ON PREVENTION OF TORTURE

On February 14, 2023, an interdepartmental operational meeting on the prevention of torture was held at the Prosecutor's Office of Shymkent, chaired by the prosecutor of Shymkent Mukanov G.K. The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Shymkent City Police Department and the Prosecutor's Office, the Commissioner for Human Rights of Shymkent City and representatives of civil society.

COORDINATION MEETING UNDER THE PROJECT "IMPROVEMENT OF RUSSIAN LANGUAGE SKILLS"

On February 13, 2023, another coordination meeting was held at the office of NGO "Sana Sezim" under the project "Improving Russian language skills among vulnerable groups of children to integrate and improve learning outcomes, especially children in migration processes and children who have returned from conflict zones".

During the event they discussed the issues of extending the program, sharing experiences with teachers and increasing the number of children participating in the program.

 

INTERNATIONAL FORUM "PARTNERSHIP AS A TOOL TO PREVENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE"

On February 8, 2023 an international forum "Partnership as a Tool to Prevent Domestic Violence" was held in the city of Astana, organized by Kazakhstan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kazakhstan. The forum was attended by representatives of state agencies, academic groups, non-governmental organizations and international organizations working on the issue of domestic violence.
During the event, the situation with domestic violence in Kazakhstan, advanced approaches and foreign experience in combating domestic violence were discussed. On the example of Germany, the experience of working with the aggressor in combating domestic violence and work to prevent domestic violence was highlighted.

THE FIRST MEETING OF THE PUBLIC COUNCIL ON THE ACTIVITIES OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS BODIES WAS HELD

On February 8, 2023 in Astana the first meeting of the Public Council over the activities of internal affairs bodies with the Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel-General of Police Marat Akhmetzhanov was held.
At the meeting the Minister told about the results of work of law-enforcement bodies for 2022. Such data about crime situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2022 were announced:
- about 151 thousand criminal offenses were registered;
- the number of murders (-15%), robberies (-21%), rapes (-28%), cattle thefts (-21%) decreased;
- 2,440 drug crimes were detected;
- 24 leaders, 17 influential persons and 114 members of an organized criminal group were brought to justice.
