A MOBILE VISIT OF LAWYERS TO THE "ZHIBEK ZHOLY" CHECKPOINT

Despite the quarantine measures imposed in connection with the pandemic, the Zhibek Zholy checkpoint on the state border of Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan remains open for certain categories of citizens, such as those visiting close relatives or those sent for medical treatment, as well as migrant workers returning to their home country.

In order to inform the vulnerable population, including migrant workers, about the problems of human trafficking and labor exploitation, workers of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" conducted another information campaign and a mobile visit of lawyers to the "Zhibek Zholy" checkpoint. This campaign was made possible within the framework of the "Safe Migration in Central Asia" project funded by the USAID and implemented by the Winrock International. Lawyers of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" told about methods of recruitment and how to protect themselves, provided legal advice on the rights and obligations of migrants, as well as shared the contact information of organizations that provide assistance to victims of human trafficking.
