For the International Migrants' Day, which is annually celebrated on December 18, the lawyers and experts of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" answered the questions of the Instagram page followers. Below we share the questions related to migration and answers of our experts.

International Migrant Day is celebrated at the suggestion of the UN General Assembly annually, December 18, since 2000. On this day in 1990, the UN General Assembly adopted the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.

The General Assembly resolution invited all UN member states, governmental and non-governmental organizations to celebrate the International Day of Migrants on the basis of activities to disseminate information about human rights and fundamental freedoms of migrants, exchange experience and develop measures to ensure their protection.

The international campaign "16 Days without Violence", which took place from November 25 to December 10, 2020, came to an end. As part of the campaign, the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" employees actively participated in online and offline events organized by government and non-governmental organizations, as well as law enforcement agencies, providing information on domestic violence issues, explaining how lawyers of the organization provide legal assistance and support, shared information on how to identify and types of domestic violence, the hidden signs of violence, where and how you can seek help. Also, interactive events were held for the Instagram users.

As part of the 16 Days without Violence campaign, we share information on identifying signs of domestic violence and providing assistance to victims.

Follow the signs of attention:

1. Injuries and scars on the body

2. Isolation from relatives and friends

3. Does not participate in activities that previously liked

4. Has some money

5. Fear, complexes, insecurity

Victims of domestic violence may not have injuries on visible parts of the body (face, hands) and behave as usual near the aggressor. People who are afraid of their aggressor and cannot ask for help from others can convey violence and the need for help in two ways. Pay attention to these signs too.

Dear readers of our page, we are in a hurry to inform you that on December 01, 2020 a regular shipment of migrants to their homeland took place with the assistance of the Governments of three countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan), as well as the IOM of the UN Agency. In the framework of the IOM - SDC project all migrants were provided with individual protection means and water.

On November 25, 2020in the framework of the pilot project on creation of mobile groups in the regions for information and preventive work in the field of combating trafficking in persons with the support of the Migration Agency of the UN, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan were organized visits and meetings with local administration representatives, law enforcement agencies and the population of Zhetisay and Maktaaral districts of Turkestan region.

On November 26, 2020,a conference on Prevention of gender-based violence and increasing women's access to justice was held as part of the "16 days without violence" events. The conference was organized by the National Commission on Women's Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of Kazakhstan, together with the OSCE Office of Programs in Nur-Sultan, the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR OSCE), the UNWOMEN in Kazakhstan, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Public Foundation НеМолчиKZ. The event was aimed at identifying actions to prevent and end gender-based violence and to address challenges in women's access to justice.

Every year, PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" participates in the UN campaign "16 days of active action against gender-based violence." Information campaigns are carried out in schools, streets, markets and other public places where the population is most concentrated. Due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we plan to implement most of the activities online this year.

From November 25 to December 10, 2020,the following events are planned to be organized:

• Information campaign with NGO partners and law enforcement agencies on the streets of Shymkent and Turkestan region;

• Coverage of the problem of gender-based violence among NGOs at the IX Civil Forum of Kazakhstan;

On November 17, 2020the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" in the framework of the project "Protecting Children in Migration Processes in Shymkent and Turkestan Region", sponsored by the UNICEF, provided outerwear and personal protective equipment and hygiene for children receiving assistance under the project. The children are temporarily staying at the Center for Adaptation of Minors of Shymkent city. Within project, the PA LCWI “Sana Sezim” documents parents and children, thus facilitating family reunion.

On November 15 and 16, 2020the staff of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" has provided humanitarian aid to migrants from the Republic of Tajikistan on the border of Uzbekistan with Kazakhstan at the checkpoint "Zhibek Zholy". Within the framework of the project "Safe Migration in Central Asia" funded by USAID and jointly implemented with Winrock International, 200 migrants received legal advice and hot meals within these two days.
