UNICEF AND PA LCWI "SANA SEZIM" REPRESENTATIVES MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION OF THE CITY OF SHYMKENT

In Shymkent with the support of the UNICEF the project on improvement of language literacy of children affected by migration processes and returned from conflict zones "Improving Russian language skills among vulnerable groups of children for integration and improving learning outcomes, especially children in migration processes and children returned from conflict zones" is being implemented. As part of the project, Mr. Philippe Testot-Ferry, coordinator of Akelius, an international initiative to improve the language literacy of children, visited the city of Shymkent.

On April 8-9, 2022Mr. Testot-Ferry, the UNICEF and PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" representatives, met with representatives of the Department of Education of the city of Shymkent, who are responsible for implementing the project in the region. In addition, the group visited secondary schools №39, 50 and 76 in the city of Shymkent, which are involved in the project. Members of the group observed the process of language learning and discussed the implementation of the project with teachers.

The project, which started in 2021 in 3 regions of Kazakhstan, is being implemented in the city of Shymkent and Turkistan Region by the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim". In order to observe the peculiarities of project implementation in Shymkent and Turkistan oblast representatives of the UNICEF and Akelius visited the office of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim". During the meeting they discussed the achievements of the project, opportunities for the project in Kazakhstan, and problems of children from vulnerable groups. At the end of the meeting, guests wished success in the work of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" and in the implementation of the joint project.
