INTERNATIONAL PRESENTATION OF THE SPECIAL REPORT OF THE COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS

On September 24, 2021international presentation of the special report of the Commission on Human Rights under the President "Current problems of human rights protection in the sphere of combating human trafficking in the Republic of Kazakhstan" took place. The report focused on recommendations aimed at improving cooperation between law enforcement bodies and NGOs in combating human trafficking and providing special social services to victims of human trafficking. It also analyzed how Kazakhstani legislation and experience in the field of human trafficking victims' rights protection is in line with international norms and suggested ways of further improvement.

At the event, involving representatives of stakeholders in trafficking issues, such as government agencies, local NGOs and international organizations, one important issue was the possibility of special social services for foreign victims of trafficking. Thanks to this change, foreign nationals who are victims of human trafficking will be able to receive services from state special crisis centers and specialized NGOs. According to Mr. Abishev, secretary of the Human Rights Commission under the President of Kazakhstan, these changes will be included in the new draft of the Social Code and will be adopted by the end of this year. It should be noted that among the CIS countries Kazakhstan is the second country in terms of receiving migrants after the Russian Federation.
