PA LCWI "SANA SEZIM" SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE FIRST YEAR OF THE PROJECT "SAFE MIGRATION IN CENTRAL ASIA"

Under the USAID-funded and Winrock International-implemented “Safe Migration in Central Asia” project, migrants, potential migrants, youth, government officials and private sector employees participated in activities organized by the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim”. By helping stranded migrants and working to raise awareness about combating human trafficking and safe migration among at-risk populations using innovative methods of technology in Shymkent city and Turkistan region, we achieved the following results:

• 19 information campaigns were conducted on human trafficking and safe migration in 7 districts of Turkistan province, the cities of Shymkent, Turkestan and Kentau;

• 226 people, including migrants, potential migrants, victims of human trafficking, and persons from socially vulnerable groups were provided with targeted information and individual legal counseling at the office of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" and during the information campaigns;

• In connection with the spread of COVID-19, humanitarian aid in the form of hot meals and bags with personal hygiene products was distributed to 1,270 migrants, detained at the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border;

• 30 college students from Shymkent were trained in safe migration through a three-month "Smart Navigator" program;

• 53 representatives of Health, Education and Labor Inspection Departments were trained on human trafficking and referral mechanisms for victims of human trafficking in Shymkent and Turkistan;

• 17 private sector companies operating in Shymkent city and Turkistan region implemented activities aimed at preventing human trafficking in their organizations.

The workers of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" would like to thank the USAID and Winrock International for their trust and support. This project shows that as a result of such close cooperation, through helping people from vulnerable populations, we can improve the lives of many individuals and families.
