NGO “SANA SEZIM” SUPPORTED BY IOM OF THE UN AGENCY AND THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE KINGDOM OF NORWAY MANAGED TO DELIVER HUMANITARIAN AID TO SARYAGASH DISTRICT

NGO Sana Sezim received an appeal from a representative of Tajik diaspora with a request to provide humanitarian aid (food, personal hygiene and personal protective equipment) for 12 citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan, vulnerable migrants who were stuck on the border of Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan at “Zhybek Zholy” checkpoint, in Saryagash region. They were unable to fly to the Republic of Tajikistan with repatriation flights and today they are in a vulnerable position. They have no work and so far there is no opportunity to go home, due to quarantine due to the state of emergency both in the Republic of Kazakhstan and in many countries of the world.

On April 19, 2020, the staff of NGO “Sana Sezim” supported by IOM of the UN Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway managed to deliver humanitarian aid to Saryagash district. In this situation, assistance in the delivery for the organization was provided by Tajik citizens who have a residence permit in Kazakhstan and live in Shymkent, in particular their aleader R. Fayziev. The number of vulnerable migrants in Saryagash region is constantly increasing, as of April 19, 2020 their number was 30 people.

We express our deep gratitude to the IOM of the UN Agency, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken”, the Consulate General of the Republic of Tajikistan in Almaty for the assistance in obtaining permission to provide humanitarian aid to NGO “Sana Sezim” to vulnerable migrants during the most difficult time in connection with the COVID - 19 pandemic.
