ROUND TABLE ON PREVENTION OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN THE TRAVEL AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRIES THROUGH POLICY ACTION AND ENGAGEMENT WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR IN THE CENTRAL ASIA

On 12 December 2019 in Nur-Sultan Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings OSCE conducted a round table on prevention of human trafficking in the travel and hospitality industries through policy action and engagement with the private sector in the Central Asia. The round table brought together representatives of civil society, government bodies, in particular ministries and departments on transport, communication and tourism from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

The speakers were representatives of ECPAT International (Stana Buchowska), Mercure Almaty City Center and Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings OSCE. The latest regional and international trends in the prevention of human trafficking in the travel and hospitality, existing policies and practices by the OSCE participating States in Central Asia, as well as recommendations on how to involve representatives of travel and hospitality sectors in efforts to prevent human trafficking were discussed on the meeting.
