CONFERENCE "INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL LAW FOR THE PROTECTION OF MIGRANTS IN LEGAL PRACTICE"
2-3 October, 2019, the conference “International and National Law on the Protection of Migrants in Legal Practice” was held at the “Aidana Plaza Hotel” in Shymkent. This conference was attended by lawyers of public associations and local lawyers, as well as experts on migration issues were invited. The conference was opened by the president of the International Legal Initiative, Aina Shormanbaeva, who raised questions and revealed some of the nuances of the priority of international documents over national legislation.
The hierarchy of legal acts in Kazakhstan, issues regarding the National Standards for the Expulsion, Deport and Protection of the Rights of Migrants were also raised. Next speaker the Senior Legal Counsel at ICJ (International Commission of Jurists) Massimo Frigo shared his experience in the field of International Standards for the Expulsion and Protection of the Rights of Migrants, principles of migrant protection in world practice, and the basics of documentation. And the final word was passed to the lawyer of the Greek Refugee Council Alexandros Konstantin, who clarified the current topic of the International standards for the maintenance and protection of the rights of migrants. Listeners on these topics quite actively participated in the discussions, and were not infrequently interested in the international practice of applying and protecting the rights of migrants. In general, the conference was fruitful for both of the parties, and each of the parties participating in the discussions shared its experience and knowledge.
