Legal Education to counteract human trafficking", with the financial support of the European Commission in Kazakhstan

 

 


Project timeline: December 3, 2009 – December 3, 2012

Objective:

  • Training of specialists providing legal assistance to human trafficking victims in Kazakhstan and the prevention of human trafficking through educational programs for youth.

Project partners:

  • Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights in Poland (hereinafter HFHR), NGO "Orken Ortalygy"

Expected Results:

  • The public and potential victims of human trafficking will be better informed on issues relating to human trafficking and the legal and institutional mechanism related to it, and thanks to the work of the hotline, legal services, and booklets, the slave trade will be reduced and people will take all security measures when travelling abroad;
  • Reduced psychological distress among family members of victims of human trafficking;
  • There will be a more efficient and effective institutional framework to address issues related to human trafficking through the training of 25 representatives of law enforcement agencies, NGOs, and media;
  • By the end of project will are trained 1000 young people at age from 13 before 25 years;
  • It will include the potential people trade victims and the officials of the organizations specializing in working with such victims, who will also be provided with 3600 leaflets;
  • Over 3500 people will receive counsel from the telephone hotline;
  • 18000 people will have been informed about the people trade through informational leaflets;
  • 2000 people will receive legal assistance;
  • Over 1000 people will receive psychological and social work assistance;
  • Regular coverage of the activities by mass media will inform a large number of people in the South Kazakhstan Region;
  • The organization will be more effective in applying international instruments and documents of the UN regarding the protection of human rights and prevention of slavery through the educational program.
