Expert Meeting on the Discussion of the Preliminary Results of a Study on the Assessment of Economic Costs and Damage Resulting from Domestic Violence in Kazakhstan

On 5 December 2017, the expert meeting on the discussion of the preliminary results of a study on the assessment of economic costs and damage resulting from domestic violence in Kazakhstan was held in Astana.

Objective: Discussion of preliminary results of an integrated assessment of economic costs and damage resulting from domestic violence, which is borne by the society, using the internationally recognized methodology of cost analysis, including the effectiveness of budgetary expenditures for conducting measures to prevent and respond to domestic violence.

The following sessions were considered:

  • Economic and social effects of domestic violence in Kazakhstan
  • Road map of the pilot project of the General Prosecutor's Office "Kazakhstan without Domestic Violence
  • Assessing economic costs and damage from domestic violence
  • Collect information and conduct an analysis of current costs for implementing measures to prevent and respond to domestic violence at the national and regional levels

Representatives of state and law enforcement agencies, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Supreme Court, national and international non-governmental organizations participated in the Expert meeting. Yusupzhanova Shakhlo and Raushan Khudayshukurova participated from the NGO "Sana Sezim".
