From July 17 to July 31, 2017, under the pilot project "Kazakhstan without Domestic Violence", a legal counseling center for victims of domestic violence will operate on the initiative of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of the NGO "Sana Sezim".

Every day from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm the Legal Advice Center will provide free and confidential legal and psychological assistance to the population of Shymkent. It is expected that those who apply to the center will be able to receive consultations of a professional lawyer and psychologist, as well as a representative of the prosecutor's office by phone and at the center's office.

The lawyer and the representative of the prosecutor's office will explain the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the Prevention of Domestic Violence" and provide recommendations on access to justice, namely on the order and procedure for filing applications, complaints, and drafting written appeals to law enforcement agencies with the aim of taking the necessary measures against the aggressors. If necessary, the lawyer will represent the interests of the victims in court.

The psychologist will provide psychological help, which will include working with the psycho-emotional state of the victims, with fears, complexes, work to increase self-esteem and self-confidence, and to accept negative experiences.

In addition, on July 21, 2017, the staff of the NGO "Sana Sezim" will conduct a training course for psychologists of polyclinics dealing with victims of domestic violence. Participants in the training will gain knowledge and skills in identifying victims of domestic violence and the mechanism for redirecting them to law enforcement and government agencies, as well as crisis centers.
