From 11 - 13 June 2017, the consultation on statelessness of UNHCR and NGOs was held (Switzerland). From the network for stateless persons participated Atoboeva Dilorom (Tadzhikistan) and Shakhnoza Khassanova (Kazakhstan).

This meeting was an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between all stakeholders in order to achieve the UNIBR #IBELONG campaign, which will help reduce statelessness by 2024.

The event was attended by representatives of international and national NGOs; members of the statelessness network; as well as UNHCR representatives covering the East and Horn region, South, West and North Africa, the Americas, Central and South-East Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

The following topics were discussed:

• Campaign #IBELONG on equal rights of citizenship and minorities without citizenship;
• The right of every child to a citizenship;
• The goal of the Global Sustainable Development Plan 2030 not to leave anyone behind and ensure a legal identity for all;
• Discussion and development of an action plan for the High Level Meeting on Statelessness 2019.

In addition, participants were introduced to the activities of other networks for statelessness in the Asia-Pacific region, South Africa and the Inter-American Network.
