On 21 April 2017, the working meeting on making proposals to the list of state social orders positions, providing free legal assistance to migrant workers in the South Kazakhstan region was held at the rooms of the NGO “Sana Sezim”.

Purpose of the working meeting: Informing participants about current problems identified during the monitoring. Discussion of the ways of their solution through the inclusion of a position for the provision of guaranteed legal assistance to migrant workers in the South Kazakhstan region in the list of state social orders.

Expected results: the position for the provision of guaranteed legal assistance to migrant workers in South Kazakhstan will allow the proper implementation of national and international mechanisms for the implementation of the right to receive guaranteed legal assistance.

Participants of the working meeting:

• Representative of the Commission on Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• Representative of the Department of Internal Policy of the SKO;
• Representative of the Department of Finance of the SKO;
• Representative of the Migration Police Department of the Department of Internal Affairs of the SKO;
• Representatives of the Ministry of Defense, NGOs.

The working meeting was organized within the framework of the project "Dignity and Rights", funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by IOM and the NGO "Sana Sezim".
