Al Farabisky District Police Department of Shymkent city, the Committee for Women and Social Demographic Policy of the South Kazakhstan Oblast Akim’s Office and NGO  “Sana Sezim” facilitated a seminar “Domestic violence of women. Problems and ways of resolving them”.

The objective of the seminar: strengthening of mutual cooperation between law enforcement officials and extension of collaboration with state social organizations in term of protection of rights of women and protection of women from violence; improvement of the level of awareness about the problem of violence, its reasons and conditions, economical and social consequences; attraction of society to the problems of domestic violence towards women.

Worldwide every third woman is raped, beaten, forced to sex or subjected to other form of violence during her life. Violence of a woman became the same epidemic as HIV/AIDS or malaria.

Nowadays the ideas of equality of men and women are proclaimed on the state level and are guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A Law “On prevention of domestic violence” was passed on 4 December 2009 in Kazakhstan. This seminar is aimed to consolidate the efforts in prevention, detection and protection of rights of the victims of domestic violence.

Works on extermination of violence towards women has to become deliberate part of our work in progressing the rights of women in whole. We are confident that our every single action in struggle with violence puts pressure on those who tolerate it and resign themselves to it.
