FIRST MEETING OF THE WORKING GROUP ON THE DEVELOPMENT AND DISCUSSION OF THE CONCEPT FOR THE DRAFT LAW "ON COMBATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN"

On June 17, 2022,the first meeting of the working group on the development and discussion of the concept for the draft Law "On Combating Human Trafficking in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Sadenov, important aspects that need to be included in the concept of the bill were discussed.

INFORMATION AND EXPLANATORY WORK WITH EMPLOYERS OF SHYMKENT ON THE EMPLOYMENT OF MIGRANTS

Within the framework of the project, supported by the USAID and implemented by the Winrock International, employees of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" from June 14 to 16, 2022 carried out information and explanatory work with employers of Shymkent on the employment of migrants. During the work information was provided on the rights of migrants and assistance to Tajik migrants working in Kazakhstan. The contact information of the center "Sana Sezim", where we provide free legal, psychosocial assistance to Tajik migrants in Shymkent city and Turkestan region, was also distributed.

MEETING OF THE NATIONAL COORDINATING COUNCIL FOR COMBATING THE WORST FORMS OF CHILD LABOR

On June 12,2022 on the eve of the World Day Against Child Labor, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Kazakhstan held a meeting of the National Coordinating Council for combating the worst forms of child labor.

LECTURE FOR STUDENTS AT THE INDUSTRIAL-TECHNICAL COLLEGE ON BULLYING

Bullying is systematic, repeated violence directed at a child. In the process of bullying a child is given unpleasant nicknames, his/her belongings are taken away and things are damaged. Also affected children are physically and mentally abused. According to statistics, 300,000 children in Kazakhstan suffer from bullying every year.

On June 8, 2022to raise awareness about bullying among children, specialists from the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" held a lecture for students at the Industrial-Technical College. The lecture provided information about types of bullying, protection of children's rights and assistance to victims. The video was followed by a discussion on the impact of bullying on children's lives.

CONSULTATIONS ON DOCUMENTATION IN THE CO-WORKING ZONE OF THE CIVIC ALLIANCE

On June 2, 2022 lawyers of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" conducted consultations on documentation for 2 days. Residents of Shymkent city and Turkestan region were informed in the co-working zone of the Civic Alliance of Shymkent city on the issues of refusal of the Soviet passport, acquisition of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan and documenting stateless persons. Free legal assistance and consultations on documentation would not have been possible without the support of UNHCR and the implementation of a joint project in Shymkent city and three regions of Kazakhstan (Turkistan, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda).

OUTREACH WORK DEDICATED TO CHILDREN'S DAY

On June 1, 2022 on Children's Day, employees of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" conducted outreach work at the Industrial and Technical College of the Department of Education of the city of Shymkent. College students were explained the rights and freedoms of children, provided information on the status of children's rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the activities undertaken to protect the rights of children in the center "Sana Sezim". During the event, college students had an opportunity to get answers to their questions about children's rights from a social worker and a lawyer.

ROUND TABLE "SUPPORT OF TAJIK MIGRANTS IN KAZAKHSTAN"

On May 27, 2022 in Shymkent city round table "Support of Tajik migrants in Kazakhstan" were held within the project "Tajik migrants, their families who found themselves in difficult life situations because of COVID-19, and victims of TIP in Kazakhstan", implemented by the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim". During the round table, which was attended by representatives of government organizations and Tajik diasporas, the goals and expected results of the project were noted.

CONFERENCE ON THE RESULTS OF A FOUR-YEAR JOINT PROGRAM ON PROTECTION OF CHILDREN IN MIGRATION PROCESSES IN KAZAKHSTAN

On May 27, 2022 a conference was held in Almaty on the results of a four-year joint program of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the European Union and the Commissioner for Human Rights in Kazakhstan to protect children in migration processes in Kazakhstan. During the conference the results and proposals of model protection services were discussed. As a result of the work of NGOs and the CAU, psychological, social and legal assistance was provided to 1,273 children and humanitarian aid to 869 children. Also trained 630 specialists working with children in migration processes, developed 3 guides and an online course for specialists.

2022 GLOBAL RETREAT ON STATELESSNESS

On May 24-25, 2022, the 2022 Global Retreat on Statelessness was held in Geneva, Switzerland. During the event, which took place in online and offline formats, the achievements and challenges on the problem of statelessness were discussed. During the event, Shakhnoza Khassanova, director of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" and Azizbek Ashurov, head of the "Lawyers of the Fergana Valley without Borders" (Kyrgyz Republic) as UNHCR partners presented activities of the Central Asian Network on Statelessness within the international #IBelong campaign.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT "COUNTERING HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND PROMOTING SAFE MIGRATION IN SHYMKENT CITY AND TURKESTAN REGION"

On May 24, 2022 the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" within the project "Safe Migration in Central Asia" funded by the USAID and implemented by the Winrock International from April 29, 2022 to October 30, 2022 launched a project "Countering human trafficking and promoting safe migration in Shymkent city and Turkestan region".
