On February 24, 2021an extraordinary meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Combating Illegal Export, Import and Trafficking in Persons was held. Under the chairmanship of Mr. Yerlan Aukenov, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Action Plan of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the prevention and combating of crimes related to trafficking in persons for 2021-2023 was presented with new activities and additions.

In the framework of the Plan it was also announced about the adoption of the recommendations of the U.S. State Department to combat trafficking in persons. The issues of intensifying activities at local levels, as well as the importance of the role of the media in disseminating information on the prevention of human trafficking were considered. In addition, the Vice-Minister Mr. Aukenov emphasized the timeline for implementing the Plan. Representatives of state and law enforcement agencies, as well as civil society took part in the work of the IDC.
