On 7 – 8 December 2011 a large-scale social action “Open Door Day for Migrants” was organized on the basis of Regional TV Company “Otyrar”. Organizers of the action were NGO LCWI “Sana Sezim”, NGO “Civil Alliance of SKO”, UN Women in Kazakhstan, TV Company Otyrar.  

The particular feature of the event was the realization of several tasks:

• Provide consultation to labor migrants and members of their families from the following specialists: migration police, independent lawyers, public health, education workers, trade unions, Department of labor and social protection.
• Create public awareness on the problem of labor migration in Kazakhstan through brining the journalists from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Georgia to highlight this problem.

Tajik, Kyrgyz and Uzbek Ethnic Cultural Centers were also called for the participation in the action. Over 50 labor migrants received consultation on these days. Mass media people also have visited on the work place of labor migrants, where they could see the realities of their lives and take an interview.
