The regional conference on refugee protection and international migration in Central Asia took place on January 26^th 2011 in Astana.

There have been discussed problems concerning the needs of migrants and refugees, border control and security matters, while ensuring protection in mixed migration flows and returning those who do not need international protection.

One of the most important topics became the question cooperation enforcement and coordination in the provision of services to migrants.

The representatives of the Committee of the Migration Police of MIA of Kazakhstan, the UNHCR in Central Asia, International Organization for Migration, the General Prosecutor of Kazakhstan, the Commission on Human Rights under President of Kazakhstan, the Border Service of KNB, the Human Rights Ombudsman of Kazakhstan and non-governmental organizations took part in that meeting.
