INTERNATIONAL MIGRANTS DAY
Every year on December 18, in honor of the International Migrants Day, representatives of NGO "Sana Sezim" organize various events. In 2022 events dedicated to this date were held in Shymkent and Turkistan oblast from December 14 to 19. The last of the events dedicated to the International Migrants' Day was an information campaign in crowded places of population and guests of Shymkent city. Despite the fact that the series of events dedicated to December 18 has already ended, representatives of NGO "Sana Sezim" will continue their work on protecting the rights of migrants and combating the stigmatization of migrants in society.
IMPROVING CHILDREN'S RUSSIAN LANGUAGE SKILLS IN MIGRATION PROCESSES
With the financial support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in general education schools #39, #50 and #76 of Shymkent the project "Improving Russian language skills of vulnerable children to integrate and improve learning outcomes, especially children in migration processes and children returning from conflict zones" is implemented, in which children are taught for free in Russian language.
STUDENTS CONDUCTED AN INFORMATION CAMPAIGN TOGETHER WITH "SANA SEZIM" SPECIALISTS AFTER INSTRUCTION ON CONDUCTING AN INFORMATION CAMPAIGN
On the eve of International Migrants Day, NGO "Sana Sezim" staff instructed students of Peoples' Friendship University on the basics of safe migration and conducting an information campaign to further organize the campaign "Migrants Matter" among the population.
The most active participants of the briefing were invited to a joint information campaign on the Arbat in Shymkent. The skills and knowledge acquired during the briefing came in handy for the students during the information campaign, thereby increasing public awareness of safe migration, intolerance of prejudice and stigmatization of migrants.
INTERAGENCY COMMISSION ON COMBATING TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS
In Astana, the 42nd regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission to Combat Illegal Export, Import and Trafficking in Persons under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held. Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel-General Marat Muratovich Akhmetzhanov, the event was attended by representatives of interested parties, including the Chairman of the Public Council for Internal Affairs, Rakhim Oshakbayev, Human Rights Commission under the President of Kazakhstan, OSCE, the International Organization for Migration and the UN Agency for Civil Society, working in the field of combating human trafficking.
THE SERIES OF EVENTS DEDICATED TO INTERNATIONAL MIGRANT'S DAY BEGAN
On the eve of International Migrants' Day, which is annually observed on December 18, NGO "Sana Sezim" staff began a series of events dedicated to this special day. This day is marked by the development of measures to disseminate information, share experiences, and ensure the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms of migrants around the world.
STUDENTS OF THE INDUSTRIAL AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE WERE INFORMED ABOUT THE PROBLEM OF VIOLENCE
In support of the international campaign "16 days without violence" students of Industrial and Technical College were informed about the problem of violence. Specialists of Education Department of Shymkent city, the Center for Special Social Services № 3 and NGO "Sana Sezim" explained the possible causes of domestic violence in the family, the effect of violence on society and the help in case of a difficult life situation and violence. The event was certainly interesting for the children, as they actively asked questions and answered the questions posed by the specialists.
EXPERT SUPPORT AND LEGAL ADVICE FOR MINORS IN CONFLICT WITH THE LAW
Within the grant from Penal Reform International and the UNICEF Children's Fund the project "Capacity building of specialists on children's access to justice and monitoring of children's rights in closed institutions" continues to work on providing expert support and legal consultations for juveniles (and their family members, if necessary) in conflict with the law.
Coverage includes children on school registers, administrative registers, detainees in institutions providing temporary isolation from society, receiving social and legal services throughout Kazakhstan. The aim of this grant is to reach at least 75 minors (and their family members if necessary) in Shymkent city and Turkestan Oblast in conflict with law.
TRAINING ON COMBATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING
On November 30, 2022, under the "Combating Trafficking in Persons and Promoting Safe Migration in Shymkent and Turkestan Oblast" project, with the support of USAID and Winrock International, organized and conducted regular training on combating trafficking in persons.
ROUND TABLE "IDENTIFICATION AND PROVISION OF LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO STATELESS PERSONS IN THE KYZYLORDA OBLAST"
Another round table on "Identification and provision of legal aid to stateless persons in the city of Shymkent and Turkestan Oblast" was held on December 2, 2022 in the city of Kyzylorda.
As part of the project "Provision of legal aid to stateless persons in Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Turkestan Oblasts and Shymkent city" experts of state organizations, law enforcement agencies and interested parties who provide services to stateless persons discussed the project results for the current year and shared their plans for next year.

On 1 December 2022 a round table was held at the office of Civic Alliance in Shymkent city as part of the project "Provision of legal assistance to stateless persons in Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Turkestan Oblasts and Shymkent city".
