CONFERENCE "INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL LAW FOR THE PROTECTION OF MIGRANTS IN LEGAL PRACTICE"

2-3 October, 2019, the conference “International and National Law on the Protection of Migrants in Legal Practice” was held at the “Aidana Plaza Hotel” in Shymkent. This conference was attended by lawyers of public associations and local lawyers, as well as experts on migration issues were invited. The conference was opened by the president of the International Legal Initiative, Aina Shormanbaeva, who raised questions and revealed some of the nuances of the priority of international documents over national legislation.

MEETING WITH DEPUTY AKIM OF THE NORTH-KAZAKHSTAN REGION

30 September, 2019, in Petropavlovsk meeting with the Deputy Akim of North Kazakhstan Region Askar Sakipkereyev, heads of the departments of coordination of employment and social programs, the migration service, specialists working with oralmans and representatives of NGOs from other regions of Kazakhstan was held.

NATIONAL DIALOGUE “PROTECTION OF THE RIGHTS OF MIGRANT WORKERS AND COMBATING TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS IN THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN”

26-27 September, 2019, in Nur-Sultan, the National Dialogue “Protection of the Rights of Migrant Workers and Combating Trafficking in persons in the Republic of Kazakhstan” took place as part of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) project “Dignity and Rights” implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

INTERNATIONAL ROUND TABLE “STRENGTHENING COOPERATION ON THE ISSUES OF COMBATING TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS”

26-27 September, 2019, in Shymkent the Rixos Khadisha Shymkent Hotel hosted an international round table on the topic “Strengthening Cooperation on Combating Trafficking in Persons”, which was attended by representatives of both local government bodies and neighboring states, law enforcement agencies, international organizations, during which issues related to the problem of combating human trafficking were discussed. The meeting was addressed by Ms. Samantha Novick, Program Advisor for South and Central Asia, Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, US Department of State.

SECOND REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE RIGHT TO ESTABLISH A LAW OF PERSONALITY AND PREVENTION OF STATELESSNESS

On September 5-6, 2019, in Nur-Sultan the Second Regional Conference on the right to establish a law personality and prevention of statelessness was held. “No one should be forgotten at birth” The main goal is to consider the specific efforts and results achieved in Central Asia in resolving the issue of birth registration, taking into account the clear task of preventing statelessness and ensuring that no child is born stateless.

TRAINING ON HATE CRIMINAL FOR REPRESENTATIVES OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS

On August 28-29, 2019, a training session on hate crimes for CSO representatives organized by the OSCE/ODIHR was held in Warsaw. The participation of the NGO “Sana Sezim” employee in the training was made possible thanks to the support of the OSCE Program Office in Nur-Sulatan.

WORKING MEETING WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF JUDGES OF AL-FARABI DISTRICT COURT OF SHYMKENT AND NGO “SANA SESIM” TEAM

On August 27, 2019, a working meeting was held with the participation of judges of the Al-Farabi District Court of Shymkent, a mediator and staff of the NGO “Sana Sezim”. The purpose of the meeting was to establish joint cooperation in the field of crime prevention and prevention in the field of family-marital relations and domestic violence. Representatives of the NGO “Sana Sezim” told about the organization’s activities and the experience of providing not only preventive, but also direct assistance. Following the meeting, both sides exchanged contacts for further effective cooperation.

TRAINING “SAFETY AND PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS”

On August 17-18, 2019, in Shymkent, within the framework of the project “Together against human trafficking through capacity building of CSOs!”, implemented by the NGO Sana Sezim and funded by the US Department of State, a two-day training was held on the safety and protection of human rights defenders. The training brought together the lawyers of the NGO partners for the project from 11 regions of Kazakhstan, which addressed issues related to the concept of "human rights defender", legislation on the protection of human rights defenders at the national, regional and international levels.

TRAINING “PROTECTION OF THE RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS OF VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING”

On August 19-20, 2019, in Shymkent, within the framework of the project “Together against human trafficking through capacity building of CSOs!”, implemented by the NGO Sana Sezim and funded by the US Department of State, a two-day training was held on “Protection of the rights and freedoms of victims of human trafficking”. The training brought together the lawyers of the NGO partners of the project from 11 regions of Kazakhstan, which examined issues related to the basic concepts related to human trafficking, identifying victims of human trafficking, as well as discussed the problems and obstacles in the field of human trafficking, the strategy of the organization involved in protecting the victims from human trafficking.

I SUMMER SCHOOL ON COMBATING TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS

From 5 to 11 August, 2019, in the framework of the project “Together against human trafficking through capacity building of CSOs!”, funded by the US Department of State, the I Summer School on Combating Trafficking was held in the Burgulyuk gorge (Shymkent), in which participated volunteers from 11 regions of Kazakhstan. The program included both theoretical and practical tasks for independent work in groups, discussions and games.
