MS. CHRISTIANA MARKERT, CONSUL GENERAL OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY, VISITED THE OFFICE OF NGO “SANA SEZIM”

On March 10, 2020 Ms. Christiana Markert, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, visited the office of NGO “Sana Sezim”. During the meeting, the main activities of the organization were highlighted, namely, the protection of the rights of women and children, migrant workers, victims of human trafficking, as well as stateless persons (documentation), issues of cooperation.

CONDUCTING INFORMATION CAMPAIGNS UNDER THE PROJECT “TOGETHER AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING THROUGH CAPACITY BUILDING OF CSOs!”

Volunteers of NGO “Sana Sezim” continue conducting active information campaigns under the project “Together against human trafficking through capacity building of CSOs!” funded by the US Department of State.

On March 2nd, 2020 booklets with brief information on the provision of assistance to victims of human trafficking and contacts of organizations providing assistance in other regions of Kazakhstan were distributed on the streets of Shymkent in places of the greatest concentration of people.

LECTURE ON INTERNATIONAL AND NATIONAL MECHANISMS ON STATELESS PERSONS FOR 2ND YEAR STUDENTS, FACULTY OF LAW, INTERNATIONAL SILKWAY UNIVERSITY

On February 28, 2020,in Shymkent a lecture was held on international and national mechanisms on stateless persons for 2nd year students, Faculty of Law, International Silkway University.

Participants received information on the implementation of the NGO Sana Sezim’s program in partnership with the UNHCR and the Swiss Embassy in Nur-Sultan about the existing problems of undocumented citizens and stateless persons. In addition, the rights of the stateless persons were explained in accordance with national and international legislation.

ROUND TABLE «PROVIDING LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO STATELESS PERSONS IN SOUTH KAZAKHSTAN»

On February 26, 2020,in the city of Turkestan, a round table "Providing legal assistance to stateless persons in South Kazakhstan" was held with the participation of representatives of state and law enforcement agencies of Turkestan region. The following issues were discussed during the round table:

- the results of the ongoing project of NGO “Sana Sezim” together with UNHCR and the Embassy of Switzerland in Nur-Sultan;

- legislative developments in the field of civil registration;

- rendering assistance to women who gave birth without documents and foreign citizens in obstetric institutions;

- difficulties in providing legal assistance to stateless persons;

LECTURE “RIGHTS OF STATELESS PERSONS. INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTS» AT SOUTH KAZAKHSTAN STATE UNIVERSITY NAMED AFTER M. AUEZOV OF SHYMKENT FOR LAW FACULTY TEACHERS AND STUDENTS

On February 6, 2020 employees of the NGO “Sana Sezim” at the South Kazakhstan State University named after M. Auezov, Shymkent, a lecture was held for 2nd year students of the Faculty of Law on “Rights of stateless persons. International Documents. "

The lecture participants received information on the implementation of the NGO Sana Sezim’s program in partnership with the UNHCR and the Embassy of Switzerland in Nur-Sultan “Providing legal assistance to stateless persons in southern Kazakhstan”, about the existing problems of undocumented citizens and stateless persons, about minor children who have never received a birth certificate and whose citizenship is unknown.

FOURTH MEETING OF THE COORDINATING COUNCIL ON “PROTECTION OF CHILDREN IN MIGRATION PROCESSES IN KAZAKHSTAN”

January 20, 2020 in Nur-Sultan, the Fourth meeting of the Coordinating Council  on “Protection of Children in Migration Processes in Kazakhstan” was held with the support of the European Union and UNICEF in Kazakhstan. The meeting was attended by representatives of state bodies, academic, international and non-governmental organizations took part.

SEMINAR "ANTI-CORRUPTION EXPERTISE OF NORMATIVE LEGAL ACTS DRAFTS "

January 20, 2020 in the branch of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Shymkent the seminar "Anti-corruption expertise of normative legal acts drafts " was held. The event was organized by Fund for Development of Parliamentarism in Kazakhstan, represented by Zauresh Battalova the President of the Fund, as well as the head of the Free Legislation Institute, Mereke Gabdualiyev. The first part of the meeting was dedicated to goals and objectives, the structure and content of anti-corruption expertise, and the second part to corruption factors and a typology of risk factors.

HUMAN RIGHTS TALKS – СЕРИЯ МЕРОПРИЯТИЙ, ПОСВЯЩЕННЫХ 10 ДЕКАБРЯ МЕЖДУНАРОДНОМУ ДНЮ ПРАВ ЧЕЛОВЕКА

On December 18, 2019, Public fund “Erkindik kanaty” organized “Human Rights Talks”, a series of actions devoted to the International Day of Human Rights, which is celebrated annually on December 10. Altynai Kambekova from the “Feminita”, Tatiana Chernobyl from the Amnesty International, a YouTube blogger Murat Daniyar, Shakhnoza Khassanova from the NGO “Sana Sezim” delivered a speech on the event.

WORKSHOP FOR NGOs AND CIVIL SERVANTS ON PROTECTION OF RIGHTS AND ASSISTANCE TO VICTIMS OF TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS AND VULNERABLE MIGRANTS IN THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

On December 12-13, 2019, a workshop was held in Almaty for NGOs and civil servants on protection of rights and assistance to victims of trafficking in persons and vulnerable migrants in the republic of Kazakhstan. The meeting was opened by Secretary of the Commission on Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Abishev T.D. under the auspices of the implementation of the recommendations of the Special Reports of the Commission on the protection of human rights in the field of combating human trafficking and protecting the rights of migrants in Kazakhstan.

ROUND TABLE ON PREVENTION OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN THE TRAVEL AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRIES THROUGH POLICY ACTION AND ENGAGEMENT WITH THE PRIVATE SECTOR IN THE CENTRAL ASIA

On 12 December 2019 in Nur-Sultan Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings OSCE conducted a round table on prevention of human trafficking in the travel and hospitality industries through policy action and engagement with the private sector in the Central Asia. The round table brought together representatives of civil society, government bodies, in particular ministries and departments on transport, communication and tourism from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
