On the eve of the New Year, the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" with the assistance of the International Organization for Migration UN and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided humanitarian aid in the form of food and personal protective equipment for migrants in vulnerable position in Shymkent city and the Turkestan region.

On December 25, 2020, the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" represented by the head Shakhnoza Khassanova received a letter of thanks for contribution to the development of family and gender policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan from the Chairman of the National Commission on Women, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the RK, Lazzat Ramazanova. We express our gratitude for the trust and high evaluation of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim".

On December 22, 2020 the workers of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" together with representatives of the project "Safe Migration in Central Asia" Winrock International organized a working meeting with representatives of akimats of Shymkent city and Turkestan region, as well as students on the Zoom platform. The purpose of the meeting was to present the project "Safe Migration in Central Asia", which has been implemented in the city of Shymkent and Turkestan region since September 2020 with the support of the USAID together with the Winrock International.

To raise awareness of migrants' rights and highlight the difficulties they face, the “Safe Migration in Central Asia” project has initiated a campaign to encourage the population of Kazakhstan to view migrants not through the lens of stereotypes, but through human rights principles and norms. The campaign is running from December 18 to 25, with a variety of activities with opinion leaders on social media. All people can join the campaign by sharing their stories with these hashtags:

For the International Migrants' Day, which is annually celebrated on December 18, the lawyers and experts of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" answered the questions of the Instagram page followers. Below we share the questions related to migration and answers of our experts.

International Migrant Day is celebrated at the suggestion of the UN General Assembly annually, December 18, since 2000. On this day in 1990, the UN General Assembly adopted the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.

The General Assembly resolution invited all UN member states, governmental and non-governmental organizations to celebrate the International Day of Migrants on the basis of activities to disseminate information about human rights and fundamental freedoms of migrants, exchange experience and develop measures to ensure their protection.

The international campaign "16 Days without Violence", which took place from November 25 to December 10, 2020, came to an end. As part of the campaign, the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" employees actively participated in online and offline events organized by government and non-governmental organizations, as well as law enforcement agencies, providing information on domestic violence issues, explaining how lawyers of the organization provide legal assistance and support, shared information on how to identify and types of domestic violence, the hidden signs of violence, where and how you can seek help. Also, interactive events were held for the Instagram users.

As part of the 16 Days without Violence campaign, we share information on identifying signs of domestic violence and providing assistance to victims.

Follow the signs of attention:

1. Injuries and scars on the body

2. Isolation from relatives and friends

3. Does not participate in activities that previously liked

4. Has some money

5. Fear, complexes, insecurity

Victims of domestic violence may not have injuries on visible parts of the body (face, hands) and behave as usual near the aggressor. People who are afraid of their aggressor and cannot ask for help from others can convey violence and the need for help in two ways. Pay attention to these signs too.

Dear readers of our page, we are in a hurry to inform you that on December 01, 2020 a regular shipment of migrants to their homeland took place with the assistance of the Governments of three countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan), as well as the IOM of the UN Agency. In the framework of the IOM - SDC project all migrants were provided with individual protection means and water.

On November 25, 2020in the framework of the pilot project on creation of mobile groups in the regions for information and preventive work in the field of combating trafficking in persons with the support of the Migration Agency of the UN, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan were organized visits and meetings with local administration representatives, law enforcement agencies and the population of Zhetisay and Maktaaral districts of Turkestan region.
