WEBINAR ON THE TOPIC “SKILLS OF USING PLATFORMS AND SERVICES FOR CONDUCTING ONLINE EVENTS "

On July 30, 2020 employees of NGO "Sana Sezim" participated in the webinar "Skills of using platforms and services for conducting online events". The event was held as part of a new project Expert Public Space - an independent online platform for experts from civil society in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The project is being implemented by the International Center for Journalism MediaNet, an expert platform Ekonomist.kz with the support of Open Society Foundations.

FORUM OF SOCIAL WORKERS

On July 29, 2020 Forum of Social Workers was held on ZOOM platform, which was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MLSPP). The Forum was moderated by the Vice-Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Aukenov Erlan Muratovich.

The total number of Forum participants was 300 people, these are deputies of Mazhilis and Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, members of the Interdepartmental Council, the Commissioner for Human Rights, heads of Medical and Social Institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MSI), heads of the Social Protection Departments of all regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of civil society, etc.

ONLINE MEETING OF THE WORKING GROUP OF THE MINISTRY OF LABOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

July 24, 2020an online meeting of the working group of the Ministry of Labor of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held, the agenda was to make recommendations under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, the Universal Periodic Review on Human Rights, UN Special Rapporteurs and 50 Roadmaps developed by NGOs to amend legislation on the labor market in the period of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kazakhstan; where the main issues were reducing unemployment, stabilizing the economy during a pandemic, improving working conditions for people with disabilities and retirees, for large families, improving social services and social protection of the population.

ONLINE TRAINING COURSE "IMPLEMENTATION OF A SERVICE MODEL FOR THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN'S RIGHTS IN MIGRATION PROCESSES IN KAZAKHSTAN"

From 13 to 17 July 2020,employees of NGO "Sana Sezim" took part in an online training course: "Implementation of a service model for the protection of children's rights in migration processes in Kazakhstan."

WEBINAR ON SAFE MIGRATION IN CENTRAL ASIA

On July 17, 2020employees of NGO "Sana Sezim" took part in a webinar organized with the support of USAID Asia CTIP on Safe Migration in Central Asia.

Speakers were Altyngul Turaliyeva, Country Coordinator - Kazakhstan, USAID Safe Migration in Central Asia Project, Ikram Hashimzhanov, Chairman of Association of Uzbeks in Kazakhstan, Gulnara Derbisheva, Founder of Union of Migrants in Kyrgyzstan.

Issues of ethnic groups in Kazakhstan and how these communities support migrants from neighboring countries such as Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, problems faced by labor migrants in Central Asia, such as unemployment, inability to return to their home countries and lack of social or legal protection were discussed.

SECOND SESSION TO DISCUSS THE DRAFT OF THE THIRD PERIODIC REPORT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL COVENANT ON CIVIL AND POLITICAL RIGHTS

On July 15, 2020at 3 pm, the second meeting was held to discuss the draft of the third periodic report on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The meeting was held at the platform of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan online, the draft of the third periodic report under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights was discussed.

ORGANIZED ANOTHER TRIP TO THE ZHYBEK ZHOLY CHECKPOINT IN SARYAGASH DISTRICT OF TURKESTAN REGION

On July 13, 2020,the staff of NGO “Sana Sezim”, with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the European Union, organized another trip to the Zhybek Zholy checkpoint in Saryagash district of Turkestan region, on the border of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the Republic of Uzbekistan. The purpose of the trip was to provide humanitarian aid to migrants awaiting the opening of borders that were closed during the state of emergency in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.

MORE THAN 600 CITIZENS OF THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN DEPARTED FROM KAZAKHSTAN

On June 19, 2020,more than 600 citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan departed from Kazakhstan from the Zhybek Zholy checkpoint in transit through Uzbekistan. This was made possible thanks to the IOM of the UN Agency, joining forces with regional representatives and NGO partners (NGO “Sana Sezim”). On several occasions, the staff of NGO “Sana Sezim” had to go to the border to support Tajik citizens, to establish a dialogue between tired and losing hope of returning migrants and IOM staff, as well as to provide humanitarian assistance to them. Our organization’s employees had to hear everything: complaints, reproaches, requests, threats, gratitude, distrust, accusations.

HOT LINE CALLS ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCREASED

The issue of domestic violence arose sharply, not only around the world, but also in Kazakhstan during the COVID-19 pandemic, this could be seen in a large number of cases, which are reported almost every day in social networks and the media. The number of calls to the hotline to our organization for free consultation in a crisis has increased. In this situation, it is very important to carry out preventive activities to prevent domestic violence, to inform the population about security measures, about responsibility and about organizations that are ready to help those who need it. Direct assistance is also important for victims of domestic violence, and thanks to the international community, today many receive the necessary assistance.

JUNE 12 WORLD ANTI-CHILD LABOR DAY!

For more than 19 years, NGO "Sana Sezim" has been supporting various vulnerable groups in Shymkent city and Turkestan region, these are victims of domestic violence, victims of trafficking, migrants, etc., but the priority is always WOMEN and CHILDREN! It is very scary when a child is in trouble, when the child's rights are grossly violated, especially by those who, in essence, must protect and protect the child from everything frightening.
