WORK OF MOBILE GROUPS IN THE FIELD OF COMBATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING

On June 25, 2021, staff of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" took part in a meeting in Turkestan city to discuss the effectiveness of mobile groups in the regions to carry out information and prevention work in the field of combating human trafficking. The event was attended by representatives of the Commission on Human Rights, international organizations, NGOs and government agencies of Shymkent city and Turkestan province.

REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN TO COUNTER AND PREVENT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

June 24, 2021within the framework of the national action to combat domestic violence, the Akimat of Abay district of Shymkent held a round table with representatives of the health and education sectors, law enforcement agencies, NGOs and others interested in the problem of domestic violence. A lawyer of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" shared information with other participants about the services provided and successful stories of beneficiaries who received assistance.

STEP-BY-STEP TRAINING TO PRIVATE SECTOR REPRESENTATIVES IN THE SERVICE DELIVERY SECTOR

On June 23rd, 2021the USAID-funded “Safe Migration in Central Asia” project, implemented by the Winrock International, provided step-by-step training to private sector representatives in the service delivery sector. Representatives of pharmacy chains and shops that may come across victims of human trafficking were informed and educated on the issue of human trafficking. In addition to pharmaceutical companies and food shops, employers in the construction and agriculture sectors were made aware of the basic principles and criteria for an ethical working environment and expressed their willingness to work towards this goal.

20TH JUNE THE WORLD REFUGEE DAY

It is sad, but every minute around the world, 20 people flee their homes and leave everything behind, fleeing war, persecution, terror or natural disasters. To date, according to the UNHCR, at least 82.4 million people around the world have been forced to flee their homes, some 26.4 million of whom are refugees, half of whom are children.

The World Refugee Day is observed every year on 20th June. The United Nations established the day to draw public attention to the problem of people forced to flee their homes and countries in order to escape conflict or persecution. The World Refugee Day is also a day of sympathy and understanding of people's plight, recognizing their courage and efforts to preserve and rebuild their lives.

21st CONFERENCE OF THE ALLIANCE AGAINST TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS ON CONFRONTING DEMAND: TACKLING A ROOT CAUSE OF TRAFFICKING IN HUMAN BEINGS

June 16, 2021the third day, a staff member of NGO "Sana Sezim" participates in the 21st conference of the Alliance against Trafficking in Persons on "Confronting Demand: Tackling a Root Cause of Trafficking in Human Beings". The three-day event brings together government officials, international organizations and civil society representatives from 57 countries to discuss the issue of demand as a key long-term strategy for eradicating human trafficking. The aim of such a wide-ranging event is to raise the political profile of the fight against human trafficking and to discuss emerging themes and trends in human trafficking.

A WORKING VISIT OF THE BRITISH EMBASSY TO THE OFFICE OF THE "SANA SEZIM"

On June 15, 2021a working visit of the British Embassy in Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan, represented by the head of political and communications section Mr. Rio Ashrafi and political and governance analyst Ms. Larisa Volkova to the office of the "Sana Sezim" took place. During the meeting, the NGO "Sana Sezim" staff had an opportunity to acquaint the Embassy representatives with the main activities of the organization, such as combating human trafficking, protection of migrant workers' rights, and assistance to victims of domestic violence.

WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD LABOUR

Did you know that one in ten children in the world is exposed to child labour? Some 160 million children are forced to work despite the fact that they are too young to work, which can compromise their physical and mental development, thus depriving them of education and social skills. In Turkestan province, working children are involved in begging, service industries (car washes, cafes), cotton-growing and agriculture.

THE WORLD DAY AGAINST CHILD LABOR

On June 11, 2021employees of the NGO "Sana Sezim" held a lecture for students of the Polytechnic College of Shymkent on the worst forms of child labor dedicated to the World Day Against Child Labor, which is annually celebrated on June 12. As a result of the lecture, participants learned what working conditions for children are prohibited and what international and Kazakhstani documents protecting children's rights exist. The event was conducted in Russian and Kazakh to reach the largest number of interested students.

ROUND TABLE ON THE ABOLITION OF THE LIST OF JOBS WITH RESTRICTED USE OF WOMEN'S LABOR

On June 4, 2021there was a round table on the abolition of the list of jobs with restricted use of women's labor chaired by the First Vice-Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Sarbasov. During the round table stakeholders voiced recommendations of international organizations on non-discrimination of women in employment and the mechanism to ensure equal access of women to work. They also raised an issue of amending Articles 16 and 26 of the Labor Code of Kazakhstan to exclude the list of jobs with restricted use of women's labor. Recall that in the Republic of Kazakhstan more than 200 professions are included in the list of jobs where the use of women's labor is restricted.
