MEETING OF THE COORDINATION COUNCIL

On November 18, 2021, a regular meeting of the Coordination Council was held at the office of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" in the framework of the project the "Protection of children in migration processes in Shymkent and Turkestan oblast0" with the support of the UNICEF, European Union and Human Rights Commissioner in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of state bodies of city and oblast levels interested and involved in working with children in migration processes. During the meeting the interim results of the project were presented, the interagency cooperation and the mechanism of referral of cases, as well as the problems faced by migrants and their families were discussed.

ROUND TABLE "IDENTIFICATION AND PROVISION OF LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO STATELESS PERSONS IN KYZYLORDA OBLAST"

On November 17, 2021 a round table on "Identification and provision of legal assistance to stateless persons in Kyzylorda oblast" was held in Kyzylorda city. Employees of stakeholders working in the direction of ending statelessness, such as law enforcement agencies, local executive bodies and NGOs got acquainted with the results of the joint "Provision of legal assistance to stateless persons in Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl regions and Shymkent city" project of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" with the UNHCR. The meeting resulted in new opportunities for further cooperation between stakeholders in Kyzylorda oblast.

ROUND TABLE "IDENTIFICATION AND PROVISION OF LEGAL ASSISTANCE TO STATELESS PERSONS IN ZHAMBYL OBLAST"

On November 15, 2021 a round table on "Identification and provision of legal assistance to stateless persons in Zhambyl oblast" took place in Taraz city. Employees of law enforcement agencies, local executive bodies and NGOs got acquainted with the results of the joint "Provision of legal assistance to stateless persons in Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl regions and Shymkent city" project of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" with the UNHCR. Stakeholders in ending statelessness discussed further cooperation within the project.

THE FIRST MEETING OF THE COORDINATION WORKING GROUP UNDER THE UNICEF, UN WOMEN AND EUROPEAN UNION PROGRAM

On November 9, 2021 the first meeting of the Coordination Working Group under the UNICEF, UN Women and European Union program in the Republic of Kazakhstan "EU-UN Support to Central Asian States for their citizens returned from conflict zones, especially from Syria and Iraq - Component 1" took place.

PA LCWI "SANA SEZIM" HELPED 9 MIGRANTS TO OBTAIN RETURN CERTIFICATES

On November 9, 2021 within the framework of the project "Together against Human Trafficking through Capacity Building of Civil Society Organizations!" implemented with the support of the U.S. Department of State, employees of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" helped 9 migrants who arrived to work from the Republic of Uzbekistan to obtain Return Certificates. Migrants who found themselves in various situations and had lost their identity documents received a range of services and assistance from a lawyer and a social worker. Let’s wish a safe return of the beneficiaries to their home country.

RUSSIAN LANGUAGE TEACHERS OF SHYMKENT CITY STARTED WORKING ON A RUSSIAN LANGUAGE COURSE ON AKELIUS PLATFORM

On November 4, 2021 three Russian language teachers of Shymkent city started working on a Russian language course on Akelius platform for children aged 5 to 17 in the framework of the program "Improving Russian language skills among vulnerable groups of children for integration and better learning outcomes, especially children in migration processes and children returned from conflict zones" with the support of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" together with the UNICEF office in Kazakhstan and the Committee for Pre-school and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT "IMPROVING RUSSIAN LANGUAGE SKILLS AMONG VULNERABLE GROUPS OF CHILDREN FOR INTEGRATION AND IMPROVING LEARNING OUTCOMES, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN IN MIGRATION PROCESSES AND CHILDREN RETURNED FROM CONFLICT ZONES"

The PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" in Shymkent city and Turkestan region together with the representative office of UNICEF in the RK and the Committee for Pre-school and Secondary Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of RK started the project: "Improving Russian language skills among vulnerable groups of children for integration and improving learning outcomes, especially children in migration processes and children returned from conflict zones" from July 15, 2021.

PRESS BRIEFING ON THE CAMPAIGN TO END STATELESSNESS IN TARAZ

On October 25, 2021 a press briefing on the campaign to end statelessness was held in Taraz. Representatives of the Migration Service Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, NGO partners of the UNHCR, KIBHR and PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" spoke about the achievements and prospects of the campaign in Kazakhstan.

BRIEFING OF THE REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN TO ELIMINATE STATELESSNESS IN TURKESTAN

On October 22, 2021 a briefing of the Republican campaign to eliminate statelessness took place in Turkestan. The UNHCR's International Campaign to Eliminate Statelessness #IBelong was supported in the Republic of Kazakhstan, thanks to which thousands of people were documented through a simplified documentation process.

BRIEFING BY THE UNHCR'S INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN #IBELONG IN KYZYLORDA

On October 21, 2021 Kyzylorda hosted a briefing by the UNHCR's international campaign #IBelong on elimination of statelessness. Representatives of the Migration Service Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NGO partners of the UNHCR, the KIBHR and PA LCWI “Sana Sezim” discussed the results of the campaign and shared plans for documenting stateless persons.

As a result of the simplified documentation process under the joint national campaign of the Migration Service Committee of the MIA RK, Ministry of Justice of the RK and the UNCHR partners, which will continue in Kazakhstan until May 2022, these organizations will continue to assist many stateless persons.
