INTERNATIONAL MIGRANTS DAY

Today, December 18, 2021 is International Migrants Day, and we all stand up for the rights of every migrant. Migrants not only contribute to the economy, but also benefit society. On International Migrants Day, we would like to share interesting stories of two migrants who received assistance from the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim".

Akhludin, as a migrant from Tajikistan, helped other stranded migrants on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border. He communicated with the consulate and NGOs, then disseminated information to the stranded migrants. Before the pandemic, he was engaged in cosmetic repairs of houses in Kazakhstan. Thanks to Akhludin dozens of families live in beautiful houses.

VISITS AND MEETINGS WITH LOCAL ADMINISTRATION REPRESENTATIVES

On December 15, 2021 in the framework of the pilot project on creation of mobile groups in the regions for information and preventive work in the field of combating trafficking in persons visits and meetings with local administration representatives, law enforcement agencies and the population of Turkestan city, Keles, Zhetysay and Maktaaral districts of Turkestan oblast were organized with the support of the Migration Agency of the UN, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

On December 10, 2021 which is the International Human Rights Day, the rights of stateless persons were discussed at a roundtable in Shymkent city. The round table "Identification and provision of legal assistance to stateless persons in the city of Shymkent and Turkestan oblast", organized with the support of UNHCR, brought together employees of the Migration Service, Health Department, Education Department, Department of Employment and Social Protection, Department of Justice and Prosecutor's Office of Shymkent city and Turkestan oblast. Participants familiarized with current results related to documentation, discussed a number of issues of stateless persons and proposed new areas of cooperation. 

EVENT ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE FOR TRAFFIC COLLEGE STUDENTS

On December 9, 2021 Abay district Akimat of Shymkent city within the international campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" organized with students in the Traffic College an explanatory event on domestic violence.

During the event, specialists from the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim", the Akimat of the Abay district of Shymkent, the Center for Special Social Services № 3 and the Abay district branch of the Protection of Women from Violence of the Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan conducted work with students on domestic violence and the prevention of domestic violence.

INFORMATION AND EXPLANATORY ACTIONS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF "16 DAYS WITHOUT VIOLENCE" CAMPAIGN

On December 3rd, 2021 as part of the "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence" campaign, awareness-raising activities were held at the Railway Station of Shymkent and the Qyrgy Bazaar.

AWARENESS CAMPAIGN "YOUTH AGAINST VIOLENCE!"

The Legal Center for Women's Initiatives "Sana Sezim" contributes to the global action "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence". One of our main objectives today is not only to provide all possible assistance to victims, but also to explain the rights of women and children in Kazakhstan.

REGIONAL CONFERENCE "STRENGTHENING NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP IN COMBATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING"

On November 24, 2021 a lawyer from Sana Sezim, whose position is funded by the TIP Office, participated in a regional conference “Strengthening National and International Partnership in Combating Human Trafficking” in Bukhara, Uzbekistan.

10th CIVIL FORUM OF KAZAKHSTAN

On November 26, 2021 head of the Legal Center for Women's Initiatives "Sana Sezim" Shakhnoza Khassanova spoke at the plenary session of the 10th Civil Forum.

She spoke about cooperation with state and law enforcement agencies, international organizations in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, as a result of which they were able to provide legal and humanitarian assistance to thousands of migrant workers who had accumulated near the border of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Shakhnoza Khassanova emphasized that this joint activity has been highly acclaimed internationally, and she is one of the eight Trafficking in Persons Report (TIP) Heroes of the US Department of State for her efforts and commitment to eradicate modern slavery.

THE INTERNATIONAL UN CAMPAIGN "16 DAYS WITHOUT VIOLENCE"

Every year, the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" participates in the international UN campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence. The theme of this year's campaign is "Orange the World: End violence against women!” As part of the campaign, staff of the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" plans to inform about gender-based violence in schools, on the streets and in other public places with large concentrations of people and in social media.

10th CIVIL FORUM OF KAZAKHSTAN

On November 22, 2021 the 10th Civil Forum of Kazakhstan "30 Years of Partnership for Sustainable Development of Society and State" started. On the first day of the forum, representatives of government agencies, research organizations, NGOs and international organizations discussed issues of sustainable development, national human rights institutions, trafficking in persons, gender equality, environment, health and education in Kazakhstan.

During the forum, which will last 5 days, the questions of local government, open government, mass media and youth will be raised. At the end of the forum there will be the awarding ceremony of the "NGO" and "Tandau" prizes.
