THE "SMART NAVIGATOR" PROGRAM ON SAFE MIGRATION FOR STUDENTS

As part of the USAID-funded Safe Migration in Central Asia project, implemented by Winrock International, a series of trainings by the Smart Navigator program is being held for students at colleges in Shymkent.

For mobile youth who frequently migrate for education and work, the Smart Navigator program offers trainings on human trafficking, covering various aspects of safe migration, identification of trafficking victims, and safety measures during migration. In order to reinforce children's knowledge, video clips, group work and interactive activities are shown during the trainings.

SECOND MEETING OF THE INTERDEPARTMENTAL WORKING GROUP TO DEVELOP A DRAFT LAW ON COMBATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

On November 19, 2022 in Astana the second meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group to develop a draft law "On Combating Human Trafficking in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held. This meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RK with the participation of Deputy Minister, Major General Sadenov E. S., Secretary of the Commission on Human Rights under the President of the RK - Abishev T. D., as well as all interested state agencies, non-governmental and international organizations, whose competence is aimed at combating human trafficking in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

THE III REPUBLICAN MAZHILIS OF PUBLIC COUNCILS

On October 14, 2022 the III Republican Mazhilis of Public Councils took place in Astana, which was attended by members of the Public Council based at the Academy of Public Administration from all Oblasts of the Republic, where they discussed the important aspects of the effective work of Public Councils at all levels and in all spheres.

At the plenary session on practice and mechanisms of interaction with the state and society took part Mynbay D.K., the deputy of Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kydyr D.K., the minister of information and social development of RK, international organizations, as well as known activists, experts and scientific figures.

TRAINING ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO IDENTIFY AND ASSIST VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING

We are pleased to inform you that our training on developing an information product for dissemination in social networks for identification and assistance to victims of trafficking in persons has been successfully completed!

The training was held on 13-14 October 2022 in Shymkent city with participation of Kazakhstani and Uzbekistani non-governmental organizations providing assistance to victims of trafficking. Representatives of 7 Kazakhstani partner organizations of the project "Together Against Human Trafficking through Capacity Building of Civil Society Organizations" and our partner organization in the Republic of Uzbekistan "Istiqbolli Avlod" took part in the event.

SCHOOLS PARTICIPATING IN THE PROJECT FOR TEACHING CHILDREN RUSSIAN LANGUAGE RECEIVED ADDITIONAL TABLETS AND HEADPHONES

The project "Improving the Russian language skills of vulnerable children to integrate and improve learning outcomes, especially children in migration processes and children who came back from conflict zones" in Shymkent city and Turkestan Oblast, with the financial support of UNICEF's Children's Fund, is successfully continuing its implementation.

Schools received additional tablets and headphones for the new school year. We hope and believe that with this opportunity students will improve their knowledge of the Russian language.

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING SIGNED BY THE OMBUDSMAN OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN AND THE UN OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

On September 30, 2022, a roundtable on accession to the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons and the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness took place in Astana.

Representatives of government bodies, NGOs and international organizations, including the Commissioner for Human Rights of the RK - Elvira Azimova, representative of UNHCR in Central Asia - Hans Friedrich Schodder, UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan Michaela Friberg-Story, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the RK Akan Rakhmetullin, Chairman of the Majilis Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security - Aigul Kusspan participated in the round table. Director of NGO "Sana Sezim" took part in the event on behalf of NGO "Sana Sezim".

THIRD NATIONAL SIMULATION EXERCISE ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING

The Third National Simulation Exercise "Combating Trafficking in Human Beings on Migration Routes" was organized and conducted from 19 to 23 September 2022 in Almaty. Training was conducted for staff of the procuracy, police, migration and social services, labour inspectorates and NGO representatives.

INFORMATION BOARDS ON THE RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF MIGRANTS WERE INSTALLED AT THE KAZAKHSTAN-UZBEKISTAN BORDER

In order to prevent human trafficking, information boards on the rights and responsibilities of migrants were installed at three border crossing points (BCPs) on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border.

As part of the Safe Migration in Central Asia project, supported by USAID and Winrock International, migrants can learn about the rules of entry and stay in Kazakhstan at Kazygurt, Zhibek Zholy and Kaplanbek BCPs in Turkestan oblast. The information stand, where the 24-hour hotline of the center "Sana Sezim" is indicated, is designed in the Kazakh, Uzbek and Tajik languages. Migrants can also read the information booklets and brochures prepared by the NGO "Sana Sezim".

BROADCASTING THE SOCIAL VIDEO "WE ARE AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING" IN THE CINEMAS "CINEMAX" AND "KINOPARK" OF SHYMKENT CITY

From 7 to 9 September 2022, a social video "We are Against Human Trafficking" was broadcast in the "Cinemax" and "Kinopark" cinemas of Shymkent city with the assistance of the Criminal PoliceDepartment of the Police of Shymkent city. The video contains one of the possible situations of human trafficking and highlights the urgency of the problem, provides information and contacts of organizations that provide assistance to victims of human trafficking.

REPUBLICAN PREVENTIVE MEASURE OF THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN "STOP-TRAFFIC

On September 7, 2022, staff of NGO "Sana Sezim" conducted an information campaign on human trafficking prevention at the railway station in the town of Arys, Turkestan Oblast.
