Did you know that less than 40% of Kazakhstanis understand the meaning of the term “gender equality”?
This fact was revealed by a new study conducted by UNDP and UN Women, which surveyed over 3,800 respondents across 17 regions and 3 cities of national significance.
The main barriers that still hinder equality include:
- low awareness of women’s rights;
- unequal participation of women in decision-making;
- gender pay gap;
- cases of domestic violence and harassment.
The project “Justice for Women: Equality in Action”, implemented with the support of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), aims to change this situation step by step — through education, legal support, and open dialogue.
