A TRAINING FOR THE PUBLIC DEFENDERS
Withinthe framework of the project "Kazakhstan's Actions in combating child trafficking", with the support of the US Department of State and implemented by Winrock International, a training for Public defenders against child trafficking has successfully begun in Almaty. From January 16 to 18, 2024, 31 people from the cities of Almaty and Shymkent, as well as from Kyzylorda, Turkestan, Zhambyl, Almaty regions and Zhetisu region will take part in this event.
The training for lawyers, professors, active youth, ombudsmen for children's rights, representatives of NGOs and government organizations from the southern regions is conducted by experienced trainers from the PA LCWI “Sana Sezim” and NGO “Rodnik”, who have more than 20 years of experience in this field and provide technical support to the project.
The first day of the training included a review of the project, a definition of the concept of "human trafficking" and a study of the types of human trafficking. After learning more about human trafficking through lectures and interactive group activities, participants studied child trafficking. During the sessions on child trafficking, aspects such as risk and vulnerability factors, causes, scope, process and consequences were addressed by the trainers. The trainers also reviewed how to respond to potential cases of child trafficking and how to report them, as well as highlighted issues of victim identification, characteristic signs and redirection.
By completing the first day of intensive training, together we have created an important step towards a more informed and active society in the fight against child trafficking. The first day, enriched with lectures, discussions and practical exercises, not only expanded the knowledge of the participants and strengthened the determination to act, but also inspired the participants to gain more knowledge within the framework of the training.
