CONFERENCE ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERNATIONAL LEGAL NORMS.
In the light of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Commissioner for Human Rights, together with the National Center for Human Rights and International Organizations, held an international scientific and practical conference "Implementation of international legal norms ensuring human rights into national legislation" on December 10, 2023. Theevent was attended by deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of government agencies, international organizations, NGOs, ombudsmen of the Turkic states, public opinion leaders and other experts.
The conference included three key sessions:
- Experiencein the implementation of international human rights standards in national legislation.
- Realizationof the right to a fair trial and access to justice.
- Institutionaldevelopment and strengthening of human rights institutions in the context of the Paris Principles.
Aspart of the thematic discussions, the director of the PA LCWI “Sana Sezim” spoke in the block on social and economic rights. She stressed that migrant workers and stateless persons face limited access to social and economic rights. She paid special attention to the importance of ensuring access to justice for this category. His presentation presented recommendations on the ratification of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons and the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness as a long-term perspective and strategy for the National Human Rights Center. The Director of the PA LCWI “Sana Sezim” is confident that the ratification of these conventions will create conditions for migrant workers and stateless persons, contributing to favorable changes in the country's economy and, thus, contributes to the reduction of the shadow economy.
