SEMINAR "INDIVIDUAL APPEALS TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT AS A REMEDY FOR HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS"

On September 5, 2023,the Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan hosted a seminar on "Individual appeals to the Constitutional Court as a remedy for human rights violations", organized jointly with the European Union and the Council of Europe. This event was made possible within the framework of the project "HELP in Central Asia" and brought together civil society, representatives of NGOs, lawyers and academia to explain the rules of individual appeals to the Constitutional Court.

The event focused on individual appeals to the Constitutional Court as an effective means of protecting human rights. The participants discussed the peculiarities of the procedure of individual appeals and learned about the international experience and practices of accepting complaints to the European Court of Human Rights.

This event emphasized the importance of cooperation between professional legal communities, the civil sector and state authorities in promoting the concept of constitutionalism and in protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens. The knowledge and experience gained promises to be useful in providing quality legal protection to our citizens.

It should be noted that the Constitutional Court of the RK effectively applies measures to clarify appeals to the Constitutional Court. Given the fact that this institution is newly created, it is important to disseminate information about the rules of appeal and thus realize the constitutional rights of citizens.

In the next post, we will share a memo and a video about the rules of appeal to the Constitutional Court of the RK.
