ROUND TABLE "COMBATING TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS: PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF VICTIMS"

On 28 July 2023, a round table organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with IOM was held on the occasion of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons on the theme "Combating Trafficking in Persons: Protecting the Rights of Victims". The event brought together representatives of various spheres dealing with trafficking in persons, such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the International Organization for Migration, the Institute of Economic Research, the Regional Bar Associations, NGOs and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan. The director of the organization Shakhnoza Khassanova took part in the roundtable on behalf of the NGO "Sana Sezim".

The event allowed to discuss important issues in the field of trafficking in persons, such as the Draft Law "On Combating Trafficking in Persons in the Republic of Kazakhstan", re-socialization of trafficking victims, the importance of combating trafficking in persons, protection of the rights of trafficking victims, the role of NGOs in assisting victims of trafficking and the importance of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.

The event was an important step towards overcoming trafficking in persons in Kazakhstan, bringing together representatives from different sectors to join forces and develop joint strategies to combat and protect the rights and support of victims.
