Regional project of the International Organization for Migration “Protection of vulnerable migrants with a special focus on women's empowerment in the context of migration in Central Asia”,funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway


Project Timeline:April 10, 2023 – February 10, 2024
Project Geography:Shymkent city, Turkestan region.
Goal:transform negative beliefs, values, attitudes, behaviors, norms and practices at the community level towards women affected by migration.
Target groups and beneficiaries:
- women affected by migration who will be able to receive the necessary legal and social support under the project$
- employees of government and law enforcement agencies, namely local police officers of the Ministry of Railways of the State Police of Shymkent and the Turkestan region, employees of the Department of the MPS of the State Police of Shymkent and the Turkestan region, employees of the education and health sector, namely social workers who constantly work with families and the population in the city Shymkent and Turkestan region, including with migrants, including women and children;
- media representatives and active students, future journalists, who will provide assistance within the framework of the project to prepare and convey information to the population about negative gender biases against women in migration on social networks, in newspapers, on television in Shymkent and the Turkestan region;
- community leaders to support the activities of the SBCC program, namely the Commissioners for Human Rights in Shymkent and the Turkestan region, representatives of the Commission for Women’s Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the akims in Shymkent and the Turkestan region, representatives of the Atameken Chamber of Entrepreneurs in the Turkestan region.
