REGIONAL MEETING OF THE CENTRAL ASIAN MEMBERS OF THE ECPAT INTERNATIONAL NETWORK
On June 6, 2023, a regional meeting of the Central Asian members of the ECPAT International network on the prevention and protection of children from sexual exploitation and trafficking in persons was held in Tashkent. The event brought together representatives of government agencies, international organizations and non-governmental organizations from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
The participants made presentations and presentations on their work and experiences in combating sexual exploitation of children and human trafficking. Speakers included representatives of the government of Uzbekistan, international organizations, civil society, and non-governmental organizations. Representatives of member organizations of the Central Asian network of ECPAT International, including Ulzhan Lukpanova from the Crisis Center "Zabota", Shakhnoza Khassanova from NGO "Sana Sezim" in Kazakhstan, and Elvira Illibezova from NGO "El-Pikir" in Kyrgyzstan, “Istiqbolly Avlod” from Uzbekistan shared information about the work of non-profit organizations in their respective countries.
During the day, they discussed the multisectoral cooperation needed to effectively combat these problems and the prospects for strengthening regional cooperation in Central Asia. Participants stressed the importance of such meetings for sharing experiences, developing strategies and working together to prevent the sexual exploitation and trafficking of children.
The ECPAT International regional meeting was a milestone in the fight to protect children in Central Asia. It allowed representatives of various organizations and government agencies to share knowledge and experience, join efforts and work together to end these crimes in the region.
