THE DEPUTIES OF THE SENATE OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN DISCUSSED THE PROBLEM OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING
The deputies of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan discussed the problem of human trafficking at a meeting held on May 23, 2023.
During the meeting the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Judiciary and Law Enforcement, Andrey Lukin, noted that the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays close attention to combating human trafficking. During the meeting senators also noted gaps in existing legislation.
Senator Ainur Argynbekova, as moderator of the session, noted that one of the first concrete results achieved in the implementation of the President's instruction was the development of the draft law "On Combating Trafficking in Persons in the Republic of Kazakhstan". Members of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of government agencies and non-governmental organizations, in their turn, focused on the activities of law enforcement bodies in identifying cases of trafficking in persons and application of appropriate measures against exploiters.
Deputy Minister of MIA RK, Lieutenant General Sadenov E.S. presented the draft law ""On Combating Trafficking in Persons in the Republic of Kazakhstan" to the participants of the meeting.
During the meeting Mr. Zeynal Gadzhiev, Head of UN Mission on Migration in Central Asia, Mr. Abishev T.D., Secretary of Commission on Human Rights under the President of the RK, Mr. Umarov A.S., Head of National Human Rights Center, Ms. Sagindykova N.E., Vice-Minister of MLSPR of the RK made reports on effective measures to combat human trafficking. Shakhnoza Khassanova, Director of NGO "Sana Sezim" shared experience of non-governmental organizations in combating human trafficking in Kazakhstan.

We believe that it will be an effective tool in the fight against human trafficking.
