ROUND TABLE ON THE RIGHTS OF MIGRANT WORKERS WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND REPRESENTATIVES OF NGOS

On 21 January 2023 in Shymkent with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) the International Organization for Migration organized a roundtable on "Problems of protecting the rights and freedoms of migrant workers. The registration of migrants by law enforcement and special agencies."


This round table provides for the creation of a system (matrix) for recording the movements of migrants in Central Asian countries under the program "Improvement of Migration Records System". It is designed to regularly and systematically collect, process and disseminate information to ensure a better understanding of movements and the changing needs of the displaced population.
During the round table, which began with opening remarks by Aslan Atalykov, Acting Chairman of the Migration Service Committee of the MIA RK, the introduction to the registration of migrants, the matrix of registration of their movements were explained. The heads and deputy heads of the Migration Service Department and the Local Police Department of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of NGOs had the opportunity to discuss migrant issues in a panel discussion on "Problems of Protecting the Rights and Freedoms of Migrant Workers".
