From April 8-9, 2010

   From April 8-9, 2010 President of NGO “Sana Sezim”, Khadicha Abysheva, participated in the Second Regional Consultation on the development of models for the support and social reintegration of trafficking victims, in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan.
   The event was organized by the International Organization for Migration in the Republic of Azerbaijan, with financial support of the U.S. State Department, in order to effectively combat human trafficking through capacity building and technical assistance projects.
   It was held as a follow-up to the Regional Consultations, held July 2-3, 2009 (Baku, Azerbaijan), which was attended by representatives of regional networks and national non-governmental organizations who perform key roles in the fight against human trafficking in the region, stretching from Eastern Europe to Central Asia.

    In a two-day event, the participants discussed the following topics:
  • The achievements of NGOs at national and regional levels in cooperating with their respective governments, as well as intergovernmental and international organizations who combat human trafficking from July 2009 to April 2010.
  • Sharing information on developments in national and regional legal bases for combating human trafficking.
  • Further progress to be made to ensure the sustainable return and reintegration of victims of trafficking.
