THE FIRST PRESENTATION OF THE SPECIAL REPORT OF THE COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS UNDER THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

On June 24, 2021the first presentation of the special report of the Commission on Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Actual problems of protecting socio-economic, labor, civil and cultural rights of citizens and other persons in the field of combating human trafficking in the Republic of Kazakhstan" was held in the Turkestan region with the participation of Secretary of the Commission on Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Tastemir Abishev, Deputy Akim of the Turkestan region Saken Kalkamanov, Coordinator of the International Organization for Migration for Central Asia and Head of the IOM Mission in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Zeynal Gadzhiev, Police Department of the Turkestan region and 16 representatives of Regional Akimat’s of Turkestan Region.

The event, organized by the Commission on Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of the Turkestan region and the International Organization for Migration, gave a comparative assessment of the situation with the rights of vulnerable migrant workers and foreign victims of human trafficking, provided specific recommendations for the protection of civil, social, labor, economic and cultural rights of vulnerable migrant workers and victims of human trafficking of all categories. Representatives of state bodies, non-governmental organizations and international organizations discussed gaps in legislation and law enforcement practice in the areas of countering illegal migration and human trafficking, providing special social services to foreign victims of traffic temporarily staying in Kazakhstan. During the presentation, there were speeches by members of the expert’s group of Commission on Human Rights under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including a speech by the chairwomen UCCK Zulfiya Baysakova, director of the PA LCWI “Sana Sezim” Shakhnoza Khassanova and chairwomen of NGO from Kyzylorda Region Saltanat Eleusizovna.
