THE STORY OF A GIRL WHO SUFFERED FROM HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Today we want to share with you the first part of the story of a girl who suffered from human trafficking.

In the 2010s, Aziza (ed. name was changed) came to Kazakhstan to work from Uzbekistan, crossing the border illegally. Upon her arrival in Kazakhstan, her employers took away the only document she had, her birth certificate, and forced her to provide sexual services. When she became pregnant and gave birth, the exploiters registered Aziza's newborn daughter in the name of third parties and thus deprived her of her legal rights to the child. Aziza did not have her daughter's documents and did not know under what name the girl was registered. For many years Aziza was exploited, threatening that they would take her daughter away from her until they escaped from slavery together with her. Later, when Aziza learned about the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim", she turned to us for help.

Because she did not receive her identity documents in Uzbekistan in time and did not know her daughter's name, it took 4 months for the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" lawyers to confirm her citizenship and to receive a certificate of return to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Yesterday representatives of the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Almaty send us the long-awaited certificate for Aziza. Thanks to this document she will be able to return to her homeland, where she can restore her documents. While Aziza will be doing her documents in Uzbekistan, her child will be waiting for her in the SPI "Center for Adaptation of Minors" in Shymkent city. Upon arrival in Kazakhstan, lawyers from the PA LCWI "Sana Sezim" will help document the child with her restored documents. We will share our progress in documentation of the daughter of Aziza in the future. In the meantime, we wish Aziza to cross the border safely, have her documents restored, and return to her daughter safely.
