Mobilizing the Community Against the Worst Forms of Child Labor in the South Kazakhstan Region under the financial support of ILO / IPEC.
Project timeline: July 2007 - December 2007.
Objective: To eliminate the worst forms of child labor in the South Kazakhstan Region by mobilizing the community through awareness activities, monitoring child labor activities using the confidential telephone hotline, and providing consultations for children and parents.

Results:
- Implemented media campaign against the worst forms of child labor in collaboration with regional media and published more than eight articles on child labor in city and oblast newspapers.
- Organized regional contests for school students from 72 schools for the best essays and drawings on the theme, "We are Against Child Labor!".
- Conducted a region-wide information campaign against child labor and distributed materials to target group of regional authorities, government officials, teachers, specialists, and employers.
- Established and directed community-based initiative groups in select communities on the elimination of worst forms of child labor.
- Consulted 500 children and parents on child labor issues on the confidential telephone hotline.
