HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TO MIGRANT WORKERS AT THE ZHIBEK ZHOLY CHECKPOINT

September 2nd, 2020again, more than 300 migrants, including women and children, gathered at the border of Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan at Zhibek Zholy checkpoint in Saryagash district of Turkestan region. All of them waited for the opportunity to return home to Tajikistan in transit through Uzbekistan.

NGO "Sana Sezim" within the framework of the project "Protection of children in migration processes in Shymkent and Turkestan region" with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the European Union provided another humanitarian aid in the form of distribution of personal protective equipment. Hygiene kits were provided for women and children. In addition, when providing humanitarian aid, the staff of NGO "Sana Sezim" conducted mobile consultations on legal issues and informed migrants about security measures during a pandemic, about the work of the Center in Shymkent and about partners in Kazakhstan who are ready to help children in migration processes.
