HOT LINE CALLS ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCREASED

The issue of domestic violence arose sharply, not only around the world, but also in Kazakhstan during the COVID-19 pandemic, this could be seen in a large number of cases, which are reported almost every day in social networks and the media. The number of calls to the hotline to our organization for free consultation in a crisis has increased. In this situation, it is very important to carry out preventive activities to prevent domestic violence, to inform the population about security measures, about responsibility and about organizations that are ready to help those who need it. Direct assistance is also important for victims of domestic violence, and thanks to the international community, today many receive the necessary assistance.

In Kazakhstan, thanks to the support of the OSCE Programme Office in Nur Sultan, from May 25, 2020, our organization’s specialists have been providing direct assistance to victims of domestic violence in protecting their rights and legitimate interests. The organization’s specialists provide direct assistance free of charge to all who contact the organization’s office and the hotline. The redirection mechanism between state and law enforcement agencies works effectively. It should be noted that representatives of civil society, state and law enforcement agencies in resolving this problem are joining forces and this is the only way to prevent trouble in every family in a timely manner.

EVERYONE who is faced with the problem of domestic violence can contact the hotline in Shymkent +7 7252 551 200, +7 708 478 9663 or at the address: 19, Perova Street, Shymkent.
