NATIONAL SEMINAR “REGULATION OF MIGRATION PROCESSES AND IMPLEMENTATION OF REPATRIATION POLICY IN KAZAKHSTAN”

March 12-13, 2020 in Nur-Sultan, the national seminar "Regulation of Migration Processes and the Implementation of Repatriation Policy in Kazakhstan" was organized by IOM in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

A representative of the Labor, Social Protection and Migration Committee of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a representative of the Migration Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the IOM of Tajikistan, IOM of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the civil society of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in this national seminar. The seminar covered the following topics: legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of ethnic migration, changes in legislation on migration since 2020, the IOM approach in the field of integration. The seminar participants exchanged experiences on working with diasporas and integrating vulnerable migrants from among ethnic repatriates.

On March 12, 2020, an event was held to open the UN network on migration with the participation of Vice Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr.A. Sarbasov, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr.E.Ashikbaev, Central Asia Coordinator, Head Missions of the International Organization for Migration (IOM)/UN Agency for Migration in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, Mr.Z.Gadzhiev, Communications and Policy Specialist, Secretariat of the United Nations Network on Migration, IOM Headquarters in Geneva, Mr.A.R.Diop.
