On 11 November 2019 in Shymkent, a round table was held on “Identification and providing legal assistance to stateless persons in Southern Kazakhstan”, which brought together representatives of both government agencies and the non-governmental sector. Elina Yenikeyeva, a lawyer of NGO “Sana Sezim”, shared the results of the project “Providing Legal Assistance to Stateless Persons in South Kazakhstan”.

Further, Marina Gorbatenko, senior inspector on special assignments of the Citizenship and Immigration Department of the Migration Service Department, spoke on the topic of obtaining IIN for non-residents of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Irina Bredikhina, a specialist at the Abay Popoulation Service Centre on obtaining an identity card and passport; Dinara Polatbekova, specialist of the Civil Registration Department of Shymkent Employment and Social Protection Administration on providing copies of civil registration records. Following the meeting, the participants exchanged contacts and agreed on further mutual cooperation in providing legal assistance to undocumented people.
