REGIONAL TRAINING-WORKSHOP ON MANAGING LABOR MIGRATION AND PROTECTING MIGRANT WORKERS
On July 8-12, 2019, a regional training-workshop on managing labor migration and protecting migrant workers was held in Nur-Sultan, which brought together representatives of government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations from countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.
Issues of labor migration in Central Asia were examined, as well as international employment, programs of destination and departure countries for the protection of migrant workers, a portrait of a migrant worker was compiled, as well as identification and criteria for the vulnerability of migrants and victims of human trafficking. Colleagues from IOM headquarters, as well as experts from Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and Israel, shared their experiences and best practices in managing labor migration and protecting the rights of migrants.
