On 1 June 2018, the international day of protection of the child, the employees of the NGO “Sana Sezim” organized the briefing “Every Child has the Right to Birth Registration!” for the media.

The briefing provided information on problems at registering the birth of children in the South Kazakhstan region. According to the statistics of appeals to the organization from January 2017 to June 2018, 203 people received free legal assistance in documentation, 51 of them were children. In the framework of a joint project with UNHCR, a lawyer assists in registering births of children and in further receiving a birth certificate. As practice has shown, today there are under-age children who did not receive a birth certificate early because of the lack of identity documents or the parents' identity document did not meet the requirements. Subsequently, undocumented children face numerous problems in receiving education (since there are demands to prove the legal residence of the child in the country) and vaccinations and medical assistance are available only after payment.
