From 30 – 31 May 2018, the high-level round table on “Sharing Best Practices on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Illegal Migration”organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the US Embassy (INL in Astana, Tashkent and Bishkek) and the OSCE Office of Programs in Astana was held in Shymkent.

The participants were representatives of law enforcement agencies, the border guard service and financial monitoring of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as NGOs (from the NGO "Sana Sezim" participated Khadicha Abysheva). Within two days, the participants discussed ways to improve regional and interdepartmental cooperation between countries in countering transnational organized groups engaged in trafficking in persons and illegal migration, tracing and seizing criminal proceeds from trafficking. The invited international experts from the border service of Great Britain and Belarus shared their experience of cooperation between border guards and the police in identifying victims of human trafficking.
